Hi all. Firstly, I realised after joining this site that it appears to be dominated by girls. So I feel like I shouldn't be on here. I hope its ok. I am very excited about marrying my bride to be. I'm 28, she's 27 and we have been together for 11 years. We also became parents a little over a year ago, so everything is going great. We both ant to get married, but like many of us nowadays, were trying to do it on a budget, as much of our earnings go toward the house and our son. Any tips and ideas on how to give her the dream wedding without breaking the bank would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too fussy on what the theme is, I just want to be her husband, but she wants a white/shabby chic, vintage style wedding, with bunting and fairy lights, and preferably in a barn. I have done quite a lot of research and everything comes in at around the £5000 mark at least for venue, food etc for up to 50 guests. Any help and guidance, would be great. Many thanks in advance from all 3 of us :-)

Welcome to a fellow groom! Apart for the odd "AAARRRRRGH! MEN!" post, the girls on here are really friendly, so don't be intimidated by that :-)
As for feeling like you shouldn't be here? Nah! Don't be daft! ;-)))))
The only way I can describe joining UKBride over two years ago, is that it's a bit like going into a busy pub, and walking into the ladies toilets by mistake, only to be greeted with cries of "AAAARRRRGHH!!!! IT'S A MAN!!! EEEEK!! HE"S GOT ONE OF THOSE!!!!" :-))
In the grand scheme of things, it's a good laugh, and Im still here! :o)

Hello and welcome. It's great have grooms to be on here; it gives us another perspective. As for budget a lot depends on how traditional and how big you want it. Avoiding a sit-down wedding breakfast and just having a buffet makes a huge difference. You could even ask your guests to contribute a dish for a buffet or a bottle of wine in lieu of gifts. See where you can use the expertise of friends. There might be someone who can sort out music for a disco, do the decorations, or organise flowers. We're planning on having friends to make our cake. My MOH and mum between them are making the bridesmaids dresses. You could see if you've got any friends who play an instrument or sing well to provide music for the ceremony.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Welcome & Congrats
Barns are beautiful but that look can also be achieved in an older hotel/country house venue Many Hotels offer packages too so you can get a good deal, especially if you avoid a Saturday wedding during May-Sept We are going for a Friday of Bank Hol weekend, an amazing 1800's coach house hotel which has offered a fabulous package and we are not forced to have a certain amount of guests etc
Good luck x

Congratulations and welcome to the site, you shouldn't feel out of place for been a man on here. There are a few other men on here too. You can do a wedding on a budget, it may just take some time to get some really good deals. Not sure where you live, but have a look at esholt barn. For a different look on a venue with lots of food choices and flexibility etc.
Your profile is still unrestricted so if you un restrict it we can then post things on your wall.

Hi and welcome. We are not all scary brides lol.
As for budget...have the buffet and ask everyone to bring a dish will really reduce costs. Alternatively have a leter ceremony approx 4pm so by the time you have done all of your pictures and chatting with people it will be late on and get a hog roast/bbq and just invite everyone to come to your day so you save on invites as there will be only one design instead of day and evening invites.
Bunting can be made cheaply if you are handy with a needle and thread (doesn't need to be perfect if she wants shabby chic), Buy material cut offs from ebay ortry gum tree. Vintage crockery can be bought from charity shops as you wont need it to match.
Ebay tends to have people selling items that they have used for their day or again gumtree so you can buy second hand.
Music if you are able to hook up your ipod set up a playlist and just plug it in...music no dj topay for and you get the tunes that you want for your night xx
