Sorry if this has been done before but I couldn't see anything recently. I am started to think about what I want to do for my hen.
I'm feeling a weekend away somewhere but not decided whether to stay in the UK or go abroad somewhere (will come to down to cost probably) and just wondered where some of you lovely girls went or are planning on going/doing? We are getting married in May 2018 so will probably go in the March or April.

I had my hen in the UK for cost and time reasons. All my friends have very different financial and family circumstances meaning some could afford anything whereas others are tight on money and then some have family commitments meaning they cannot be away more than a day and others are free to do as they please. My hen weekend was broken down into different elements so all my friends could choose which bits they could come to and so no one felt obliged to spend loads and take time away from other commitments, so no one hopefully felt left out or excluded. My sister did exactly the same when she got married. The format was really appreciated. It was so lovely too for me to see all of my friends at some point during my hen weekend - did a traditional typical girls night out with dinner, drinks and clubbing, overnight stay in a nice hotel followed the next day with a spa day (variety of spa packages to choose from depending on budget).
In an ideal situation all your friends could afford a weekend away which isn't cheap and could also take time away from other commitments. Don't forget that they will also probably feel they have to pay for a wedding gift and potentially an overnight stay or taxis for your actual wedding, maybe even a new outfit, so weddings can be expensive for guests/friends.
If you know all your friends are financially comfortable and can take time away then go for the one abroad.
Sorry if I sound like I'm giving a lecture but I worked with someone who was in tears once at work because she couldn't afford the hen weekend for a bride she was bridesmaid for. I felt so sorry for her.

Thanks for your thoughts ladies, the overall outcome will come down to price. I don't really have any friends so I am struggling with who to invite apart from my MOH, my mom the mom and MIL so I haven't got too many peoples budgets to take into consideration, the only one I know will be tight is the MOH as her hubby is the best man so will be paying to go on the stag do also - they are going Oktoberfest in Germany!
I think I am set on the UK to be honest, struggling to think of places abroad which will suit. My OH wants me to go abroad though just because he is but there's a few places in the UK I haven't been to but sometimes when you start looking at cost I think it's the same price to go Spain or some place lol x

You can get some really lovely deals for overnight spa stays and hotel deals if you shop around, I like using 0ffP3akLu×ury.com and 5pa8reak5.com. It was my sister's wedding this summer and I helped organise her hen. We went for an overnight stay in Cardiff with a spa treatment, afternoon tea, meal etc. Plus stopped at some fun places on the way (a maze & butterfly farm). Was a great weekend and not expensive, we had a small group of 6 and split the bride's costs between us.
It was lovely and although it was about 2 months in advance I'm glad we didn't go abroad. It was incredible how busy everything was in the run up - was a whirlwind for about 3 months!
For my hen next summer hoping for a similar thing with a D15ney princess theme for the evening :) x
Yeah I've used 5pa8reak5.com before some great deals on there. I do like a spa but we have done that a few times together so think I will go somewhere a bit busier - a city perhaps and do some shopping/drinking too.
I hate fancy dress but I bet the D15ney princess theme will go great :) The last hen weekend I went on we had to go as Where's Wally x

I had mine in Dublin as it meant more to me to have everyone there than the exotic location, that being said we went to Ibiza for my best friends hen and we had a great time. Both very different atmospheres but equally as fun. xx
