hi girls, as some of you know 9 of us are going to york from 5th June to 7th june and coming back on the 7th. The issue is, now everyone wants to get the train including our two designanted drivers. Not a problem as it works out about 30 quid each return which is ok but we cant check in until 3pm and dont want to get there late as we lose a day, and checkout with no bag storage is 12 noon on the 7th and dont want to leave early as again we lose a day. Wondering if anyone knew anything we could do as we will be trapsing around with our bags. I thought of getting there for about 12 noon on the 5th, going the pub for lunch and then checking in on day one but not sure what to do on the last day?

I live in York so know it quite well. How about going on the York Wheel? Takes about an hour to go round and not sure if you go round 2 times.

Or go sit in the museum gardens and have a picnic or ice cream?

Theres not a lot anywhere that you can manage with trapsing bags around with you. Theres the national railway museum which is free to get in and only round the corner from the station.

I think the best move would be the York Wheel. If you are getting there at 12, by the time you have got some lunch, gone on the wheel, it will be time to check in. I'm not 100% but if you let them know, they might be able to do something for you on there?

    xx

I organised a hen do in York for two weeks ago, York station has a left luggage facility, it is £5 per bag for 24 hours though, and you can't pay for less than 24 hours! That suited me ok because I had a massive suitcase with me as I was flying straight to France afterwards, so I left that there for two days and just carried my small bags with me. On the last day quite a few of the girls left their bags in for 4 or 5 hours and didn't mind paying that fee. Also, on my hen do my sister paid for late checkout (2pm I think) in one room and we left the bags in that room so maybe something like that is an option.

Also, depending on the size of the bags, I read that York railway museum (not far from the station) has lockers for £1 but they won't hold a suitcase, only a smaller bag, but at a much more reasonable price!

What are you doing on the hen do? We had a great time there!

we were thinking of storage at the train station as travel lodge defo dont have a place. So the station has for £5 a place to store even suitcases? Is it reasonable secure?

Yeah it stores any bag, my suitcase was big (weighed at the airport to be 24kg!) and it is secure as far as I know, there is no public access, only a window for bags to be passed through, all bags are scanned through an xray thing too. You need to produce a sticker to get your bag back so noone else can get it back. If you want to use it, you have to go behind burger king and it is in the car hire place, Europcar I think,

if you didnt want to pay £5 each for lots of bags, why not borrow a large wheelie suitcase, so you can put all bags in there and will only cost you for one bag AND you can take it in turns dragging the thing.
