how old is he? i had this problem when my daughter was 14months i used fruit especially melon(full of water) milkshake, orange ice lollies, id use a syringe to keep squirting water in her mouth even if it was only a little bit it was still something, i got her a new beaker she liked and dhioralite not sure if the speeling is correct but if you can get any down him then this stuff really helps with dehydration. if all else fails she should get medical advice. hope he starts drinking soon i know its such a worry xx

maybe start with watery fruits, soft ones.
    diralyte is fab too.
Maybe make some jelly, things with plenty of fluids in. If he is feeling poorly still i can understand him not wanting to drink, he may think it is going to make him feel poorly again.

Fun cups, sippy cups, straws etc can help for sure, worked with mine when they were little.
I am not sure if you can buy it but you CAN get a powder to thicken drinks into a muchy semi solid type thing, trick him into eating" juice, seen it used loads in hospitals, but like i say i dont know if you can buy it over the counter or not.

I have had a child in hospital (23 months at time) and we had this problem with him. The doctors discharged us with a few tips. We had a 5 ml syringe and every 5 mins for 12 hours we had to syringe him some lucozade sport or flat lemonade... he explained that the sugar in these helped him not to vomit anymore and that would appetize him more also and are very good for hydrating - better than water. He also suggest lollies, ice pops, ice cubes and also jelly. We got there in the end after a VERY long days last April - over mine and h2b's birthday !! We had a weekend away planned DOH!! Just glad he was OK - very scary time x

    Here comes the bride......

my son was taken into hospital after a serve bug with a temp of 104 and having lost weight very quickly..... i had the same problem with him although he wasn't allowed out of hospital until they had seen him drink a bit and he had kept it down he was 17 mths old at the time ...we did the syringe thing and gradually he drank little bits .... it worked as he is a strapping 6`7 27yr old now

my youngest had was admitted when she was only 3 months old after she started being sick and diarrhea at the same time. in the space of 20 min she went from being normal to barely concious. she was on a drip overnight and was fine by the next day. scary!!!

my 2 yo had tonsillitis, refused to drink and was being sick a lot. we were told not to give her water, but give her full sugar diluting juice in a syringe. it worked really well and she accepted fluid from that. plus we could monitor exactly what she was taking in

it really depends what age the child is, whether they were ill or if it's a behavioural thing

my yougest will not drink from anything other than my b00b and hasn't done since she was admitted that time to hospital (7mths ago). tried every type of cup, teat, trick i've found, but it doesn't work. she refuses and gets upset and i don't want to put her off

    hope he's better soon
