Hi, I have just joined this morning. I am Laura and I am getting married next September and looks like I can pick up a few pointers on here :o)

There is one thing I need help with and thats how to entertain children at our wedding without spending a fortune... I suffer with anxiety attacks which is mainly triggered by noise and movement and I ideally wanted a child free wedding but my partner has a lot of kiddies on his side of the family so me being me I could not say no as did not want to cause any upset for the family! This is the one and probably only thing that is really getting to me and stressing me out and still have just over a year to go...

Can anyone give me any ideas of how to tackle this without breaking the bank???

Look forward to hearing from you other Brides.

    Laura x x

Make your own activity packs with colouring books, crayons, disposable cameras and a list of things to take pictures off, puzzles, sweets etc.

Maybe just have them at the day do? Then have the evening as adults only?

Have you chosen the venue yet? Some have a room set aside where kids can watch tv etc and chill out for a bit xx

Usually if there is a big group of kids they will pretty much entertain themselves with each other. How about some garden games like giant connect 4 or jenga.

I only have two kids at my wedding, but I'm having activity packs too. The bay of e have lovely personalised boxes for just over a pound and you can fill them with activity books etc.either that you could hire an entertainer? Shop around for a cheaper one, try gumtr**

Maybe it's just me but shouldn't parents be responsible for keeping their children entertained, after all they know them best. A lot of churches have play areas for the kids. The meal would probably the worst. Activity packs sound like a good idea. I would be tempted to set up a laptop/dvd player set up with their favorite film in so they can zone out while the adults enjoy the meal.

I'm thinking of printing off lots of pictures of 'me' (i.e. a random bride) colouring sheet, and asking all the kids to design an alternative wedding dress for me!

im doing activity packs for all the children at our wedding and giving them all a helium balloon with a small weight on the bottom..... I am also hiring a childrens balloon entertainer who did my friends wedding and he made all the children quiet for the whole of the night reception he arrived at 7pm and left at 11pm and was amazing he made all balloon animals for all children and thn went round all adults I brought an activity pack from bay of e that I can just change the names of the children on the front so it cost me approx £3 and it will do all the children I just need to print them off bargain xx

I'm making activity packs to for all the children and adding their favourite thing, e.g. A Thomas the tank colouring book for one lad who loves that etc. I'm also adding puzzles and things like that x x
