I was going to have a wishing tree for the reception along side a guest book. The idea was that I would get a branch and stick it in a pot then decorate it with lights and pearls etc ready for the guests to hand the wishes on. I'm now thinking it would be great to get a real tree in a pot which I can use to do this with then after the wedding we can go and plant the tree and watch it grow over the years. The problem is I need a tree that will be able to sit in the reception room that has enough branches on it to hang things from and the second thing is I need a tree that won't grow too big in the garden. Does anyone have an idea of what kind of tree I would be best buying for this?

I think it sounds like a good option. I just love the idea of wishes being hung from them and then we get to plant the tree and watch it grow over the years of our marriage. We plan to stay in the house for many years and build an extension so as long as we don't need to move for jobs we should be there for a long time.
