Hi everyone. I've done a search and although lots of threads came up I can find the answer to my question, so sorry if I've missed it and am repeating what's in another thread.

I want to send out my invites mid-end October and I wanted to include a gift list with them. But I've checked both the Debenhams and John Lewis websites and they say the earliest you can set one up is 12 weeks before. That would mean that the easliest I could set one up would be in December, which would be an absolute nightmare.

Really not sure what to do.

I thought you could set them up earlier but they only go live 3 months before the wedding date...

oh, me and h2b are sending our invites out september next year and this will be 10 months before our wedding does that mean we wont beable to have ours live till feb?
if so this would be a complete waste of time sending the invites early, the reason we want to send them early is so that people can book days of work etc but whats the point if we cant send the gift list along side it?

Yeah we looked into gift lists and most said you can set them up early but they wont go live till 3-4 months before.
If we wanted to send details with the invites when we set them up they would give us a unique number and this is what we would put on the invites for ppl.

Mrsowen2b why dont you send out save the dates a year before your wedding that way ppl will know your wedding date and will be able to book the time off..........extra expense but worth it in my opinion and they dont have to be expensive

h2b doesnt or wont allow save the dates he see's them as a waste of money and the person making my invites has said they are a waste and i have now come round to the idea most people know our date theres only daves distant (yes distant hmmm!) relatives whom ive never met which dont even know we are engaged let alone getting married who dont know the date
cant u tell im not impressed? haha!

You can send out the info of the guest list - they just cant actually buy anything til it goes live and the little cards i have been given before tell you when it opens so fine to send them out whenever!
Alternatively if you have a wedding website you can put the details on there when you have sorted it - thats what we are thinking of doing

Yeah you can set them up whenever but they only open up so many weeks before the wedding - but I've had loads of wedding invites where they just write the available date on the card so guests know when to take a look!

You can set them up earlier hun, we did. We sent out our Invites April time and got married in August and it was set up. That was with Debenhams

    We're with J0hn Lew1s.
We could go shopping for the list from 12 weeks before our wedding and the the gift list opens to guests from six weeks before.
They can give you all the details before though.
    Hope this helps
    xx

We've had countless problems with our John Lewis Gift list (as have 2 of my friends that have got married this year). If you haven't given your gift list number to friends and family I strongly suggest going elsewhere! haha
We had to wait ages for delivery, and they delived 4 out of 30 items - we were supposed to get them all!
Then the 2nd delivery (ages after as they had no more delivery slots) they cancelled 45 mins before the end of the delivery slot.... so that's 2 days of waiting in all day!
Then the 3rd attempt....... we still have 4 items missing!!! And have also had faulty items in the lot that was delivered.

I also have friends that were married in April and June with ongoing John Lewis problems.....
