I have just discovered that 2 of our guests are vegan, not vegetarian as I thought.
Does anyone else have any vegan guests, and how are you catering for them? At the moment, we weren't going to cater for them for the canapes, as we only have a choice of 4 pp, and I don't particularly want to waste an entire option on something no-one else will enjoy; so unless the venue can cater literally just for them, we're not going to bother.
For the wedding breakfast, we'll obviously make sure they're catered for for all 3 courses; however, I know not all wine is vegan friendly, so do you think it will be OK not include them in the numbers for wine if they don't drink the wine we're offering, and to provide soft drinks instead?
Then for the evening buffet, one of our options is a selection of open baguettes/sandwiches, so, I was going to ask that a proportion of these are vegan. We also have tempura vegetables with hummous, so, I was going to check that the hummous is suitable for vegans, and then ask for some of the vegetables to be vegan (ie no batter, or, the batter is vegan-friendly).
Does this sound OK? I'm loathe to go to huge lengths or change a lot of our menu just for 2 people, but equally, I don't want them to go hungry or feel neglected.

I'm sure they'll be happy that an effort is being made to cater for them.
We also have a couple of vegan guests (like you, I thought they were only vegetarian!)...
Our venue was quite good....one of our canapé choices is melon and Parma ham, they are quite happy to leave off the ham and just serve melon for some of them(which some of the non vegan guests would like too). Could any of yours just be tweaked slightly so that they are vegan friendly but still appeal to other guests? If not, I really don't think its a big deal if they miss out on the canapés.
With the wine, if they do drink, I would try and get one or two bottles of vegan wine - our venue sourced it for us, and it's only costing a couple of quid more...or your wine might already be vegan friendly - just my opinion but I'd be a bit put out if there wasn't anything alcoholic to drink.....or maybe you could give them drinks tokens for the bar instead?
We quite struggled with the buffet - and still are to be honest...but are having a vegan wheel of cheese in our cheese cake (one of the small top ones) apparently and fruit and veg kebab type things xx

If you speak to your venue, they should cater for the two vegan guest specifically.
I had to cater for 1 vegetarian, 1 vegan, 1 lactose intolerant celiac and 1 guest with a nut allergy.
If only life could be one long tea break

I would be tempted to have food brought in specifically for these guests or a lot of fruit and vegetables (raw as I'd be worried about venue preparing them with butter). The problem with tempura vegetables is that they most likely will be fried in a fryer that is also used to fry meat, so they won't be vegan.
They will be very grateful that you have gone to the bother of catering for them. Hubby's aunt is vegetarian but she also does not quiches and salmon like my aunt does. She was so grateful of her vegetarian lasagne.
The venue will help you out

The venue should be good at helping with catering for them. Ask the chef what they can do.
I have a dairy allergy and our venue are being careful to ensure that nothing hitting my plate has anything dairy in it - so effectively, anything without meat and eggs in it is vegan. You'll be surprised how much vegans can eat, just takes some imagination xxx

I think it is very sweet of you to be so worried about your vegan guests. The best thing to do is have a word with your venue and chef and see how they can cater or them xx

My venue were brilliant, they said before we booked anything that the chef would cater for anything or anyone.
