As the title suggests I really don't know where to start with organising my hen do!! My Sister is my MOH and she's the same!! All i know is i'd love a cheeky weekend somewhere if possible prob Fri - Sun not too far away and cheap and cheerful. I was previously looking for somewhere abroad but don't think i'm going to be able to get something without it costing my girls a fortune, so started to look for somewhere in the UK where i've not been.
My friend keeps telling me Newcastle is a fab place but we're talking 2.5 - 3 hour car journey. Ideally I don't want to drive and i know my mum and sister hate motorway driving so i'm lost as to what to do for a hen do over here. I really don't want to go to Manchester or Liverpool as i could do that any weekend but i'm worried if we went further afield it's going to cost a fortune to get there, trains etc... or we'll need designated drivers and i'll be worried about them being hungover!! Also i've not a clue how many people i need prices for as i've got nothing to suggest to the girls for them to confirm if they're up for it or not.
I know i'm asking alot for a couple of nights stay over but i've done it for a few of my friends over the years so i'd hope they'd do the same in return. I just don't want to end up down my local.
Can anyone help with suggestions on where to start?!?

I live in sunderland but dont go out here, i go out in newcastle. There is a drag burlesque bar there called boulevard, that's a good night out if you like dancing and drag acts (some dancers arent drag though), with drinks and things, and they have 3 diff priced tickets. The VIP ones you sit at the top of the venue on a balcony, get waited on, have toilets just for you etc.
I have only been to a few clubs not on the gay scene, and theyre pretty good, there's also two casino's, one in town one just outside.
I have heard of more and more people going there on hen's nights as well though.
We plan to go to boulevard, i THINK they may do hen night packages too.
During the daytime you have south shields not far away where there is laser tag and a small pleasure beach type thing with rides,
cant really think what else there is, i dont go on the town and tha tmuch lol

I live in Newcastle... SO worth it! Get a train maybe? There's loads of cheap places to stay. Jesmond is a short walk from town, so is Fenham and Sandyford.

im in newcastle too lol its a great night out the gay scene is mint but so is the gate and the bigg market theres always loads of hen and stag do's out on weekends xx

nicola theres a premier inn hun in the town centre itself or theres the swallow hotel or the thistle which are more expensive but its a great night out or try getting accomodation just outside the city centre in the surrounding area's theres jesmond or the west end of newcastle so theres some allocated on the west road which u can walk from into town which takes about 10 mins xx

We're off to Blackpool, 22 women dressed as sailors-haha.
Did through a party/hen night company. £35 each for B&B and free passes into loads of different clubs etc including a comedy club in the afternoon. Coach is costing £20 each return. :0)
Can't wait to be married!

If you want a weekend in a city you don't know, i'd suggest trying hen party companies. Just search for them on google and have a look :) x

I was exactly like you , not knowing where to go , what to do etc...i am not a fan of paper trye things, so spa's etc were a no no! i love raving....so decided i was gonna do what i wanted to ...invited people and they could decide then if they were on board. I have 16 of us all getting a massive Hummer limo to The Ministry of Sound,..........cant wait Party!! x

I wanted to go paintballing, but wwe cant get enough of us to go to ensure only our group are playing, and sometimes other people dont abide by the rules, and shoot you at close range and stuff. THe other ideas we have are go-karting, lazer tag, the local static funfair, or boulevard.
We even had the idea of booking the reception venue for the night before, tkaing the decorations along, decorating the hall and then staying there to have some drinks
we would LOVE a hen night package type thing, but neither us nor our family and friends could aford something like this we dont think.
I did suggest a mini cruise to amsterdam, but then when we added up meals, apssports etc etc that was too much too.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, i'm in need of a little rant as I'm still struggling and feel like there's always going to be someone i won't be able to please/include in my hen do. Myself included on the pleasing front!! Feel like it would be best to just have a normal saturday night round town and see who would turn up then!! and if there'd still be excuses as it feels no matter how great or small i ask of people there's always something.
As i said in my original post, i'm too soft and have always been someone scared to say no incase of offending/upsetting anyone so have made sure i've gone on all my friends hen do's as not wanted to treat one any different to the other. Now it's come to my turn and obviously i'm not one of the first to get married so people are starting to say i'm not sure, and i'd love to but...so i'm starting to feel a bit annoyed. I don't mean to sound like a complete female dog, It's understandable monies not great for anyone at the minute and i completely understand one of my friends is on Maternity leave so she can't help not knowing if she could even come or not, but i'm starting to feel a bit let down by the others and thinking a quiet night in with my Mum, MOH (Sister) & BM (Niece) would probably be best xxx

huni have you thought about a sten/hag do? if your worried you will be disappointed that no one will turn up then you wont miss them as much if it was a combined effort, have dress codes etc but that way you could pretty much take over somewhere and do what you want?

i just sorted out hubby to be stag (as him and best man is away with the navy) and they where going to go to amsterdam but chnaged their minds to go to torquay... i got them three nights stay.. with half a day surf lesson and also paintballing on a bank holiday weekend for the grand price of 115 each :) which i thought was great :) x
i am being cheeky and going to magaluf haha and also having another weekend somewhere (the bridemaids are sorting it out) nearer the wedding! :) x
