This might seem like a daft question, but I was getting myself in a bit of a state, and getting very confused with all the planning etc. So need this answering for my peace of mind.
Do we need a order of service if we're not having a religious ceremony? I always thought for a non religious ceremony it was all pretty straight forward, where as religious, theres hyms etc that you need to inform people about... any advice on this would be a great help, as I'm feeling very lost with it all.
Thanks in advance x

When I booked the register office they gave me a booklet with it written in. We walk in together as there's no aisle. The registra will welcome everyone, remind them it's a legal thing, then state the legal wording which we copy. We can have a reading if we like, we can exchange rings if we like and then they've advised us to choose a piece of music for the signing of the register. that's it. Simples :0)

Some people do an order of the day instead - thats what we are thinking of doing But i dont think you need one if you dont want one
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I think I will do a program of the day - a little bit reminiscent of a theater program. It will feature all the starring roles and the order of the day.
It’s so great to find that one special person
you want to annoy for the rest of your life....

I've been to civil ceremonies and sometimes have an order of the day, but most of the time not as it's a much shorter ceremony with no real congregational participation...
