I had loads of ideas when I was planning a big wedding, but now I'm only having a registry office with less than 15 people, I have no idea what to wear. I am 37, curvy and big busted. I want to look sexy, but not tarty. And definitely not mutton dressed as lamb... I ordered a whole load of dresses from my catalogue and sent them all back. I'm at my wits end, lol.

Have you tried a 50's style dress? Or even seperates?

A 37 year old can never be classed as mutton! I like the idea of 50's too as the style will enhance your curves and if you do your hair and make up in the style it will look fab. There are some great sites online that do really classy 50's style clothing. I don't know of any by name but google helped me when I was going to a 50's night.

I wore a 50's style dress in May and I had 3 people enquire if I was pregnant :0) There's some beautiful tea dresses out there, but I clearly shouldn't wear anything that's drawn in under the bust, lol

No I was thinking pinched in that the waist with a big skirt. If you google 50's wedding dresses and look at the images there are some beautiful styles and those were the days when curves were the big thing not like the lollipop bods of today. x

Try a halter neck sweetheart neckline tea length dress; see my pics, I'm top heavy with big hips and it makes me look all in proportion, something nice but not too formal and they tend to have fitted bodies, also make sure its a lace up back naturally it takes at least 2 inches off. Plus a bit of shapewear and you'll be smoking hot going down the aisle, u Cud also have a coloured underskirt (sorry I get so xcited nout tea length dresses)

Love the idea of the big 50's dress, think lots of petticoats and lovely halterneck, makes anyone a fantastic shape, especially ladies like yourself with lovely curves :)

I'm 39 and got married a couple of months ago. There was only 19 of us at our wedding (a small wedding and reception meal at Gretna). I wore a long, ivory dress, off the shoulder with full skirt and definitely don't think it was going overboard - it's what you feel comfortable in. After all, it is your wedding so why not go for a great dress!!!
Oh, and I'm a size 40d (18) but didn't feel tarty or like mutton dressed as lamb. At 37 you're no where near that lol.

Yeah try L Woods clearance, a 50's teadress would look fab, do yo necessarily want to look bridal or would you have a bit of fun with some colour? If so there's a website called **********y that I've seen on here that has great looking teadresses, if stuck ask the user 'Rockabilly' for the site as it's where she's kitting out her bridesmaids!

Mym i love your dress, its the sort of thing i am looking for

hlaraine1 - thanks. I wasn't going for that style originally, but didn't want strapless and as soon as I tried it on I knew it was what I wanted.
It's a Forever Yours 38222 - but if you google it, it only shows it in pink because it's actually a Quincinera (prom) dress - although some places list it as an 'informal' wedding dress(?)
