Hi everyone - mods I know there is a honeymoon thread so hope this is still ok as I really need help.
It's really starting to stress me out that we haven't booked a honeymoon!! We have seen flights to Portugal for 5 nights we said we were def going to book something tonight but we just can't decide on a resort or hotel. A lot of the hotels we liked previously are now very expensive.
Can anyone recommend a good resort/hotel in Portugal???

When we went to Portugal a couple of years ago we went to the Algarve - Praia de Luz. It was nice but I wouldn't go there for a honeymoon. Luz itself (the beach/sea front) was nice but very English - not very authentically Portuguese!! We had a day trip to Lagos which was lovely xx

Thanks flossie. We have been to old town albuferia but want somewhere different. We were looking at Lagos, Praia da rocha or Alvor. All the good hotels seem to be gone though. Could also go to Spain but not sure where either

We found a gorgeous hotel but of course it's booked out!! We could go 2 days later but the flights are almost twice the price!!
Aw thats a shame Danielle. Hope yet sorted. Have you not thought about Italy maybe? It was beautiful when we went for my bday. x

Hello - years and years and years ago (!!!) we went on a family holiday to Lagos - 1991 to be precise. I was 14 at the time and didn't really appreciate the place, but we looked at it a while ago and it's a really lovely place to visit. Lots of history and architecture and from memory it had a lovely beach. It may have changed since I went - 25 years ago (this makes me feel ancient) but I remember my parents really liking it there for it's authenticity.

Where is that Michelle? We have booked @qu@luz in Lagos Portugal leaving on Tuesday 24th for 5 nights. Nothing fancy but be nice to get away. Hotel looks beautiful

Try Nazare. Lovely area of Portugal that is off the beaten track so may be easier/cheaper to book. And it's not too far from the capital. OH comes from there and it really is lovely
