As some of you ladies may remember I picked the Benjamin Roberts dress 951. I love the way it looks on me and it is my dress but I was never happy with the back of it. Well the lady in the shop has been really good and has found a way of altering it to how I want it. However she has had the quote back from Benjamin Roberts and the material will be around £100 and then it will cost about £100 in alterations on the back of the dress as there is a lot to do. I will then have to pay for more alterations if I need the side seams of length altering (although this is covered in the price of the dress)

I'm now thinking can I justify spending an extra £200 to change the back of the dress when I am just wearing it for the day. We could use that money for spending money on the honeymoon. I spoke to the H2b and he said that he is more than prepared to pay that money to have the dress altered and it isn't an issue as the money is there to pay for it. I guess the issue for me is just because the money is there doesn't mean that I have to spend it. I know that the dress isn't 100% how I would like it but no one else would notice and on the day the only thing that will be important to me is getting married to the man I love. I guess my priorities for the wedding are on getting married more than what I look like but that doesn't help me work out what to do with the dress.

Any advice on what to do would be appreciated.

Me lol. I just don't know if I can justify spending it. I think the problem lies with the fact I'm not earning my own money these days and I'm spending someone else's. If it was mine I guess I would not feel guilty about it but the h2b is paying for the whole of the wedding which makes me feel like I should not be taking advantage of him. I know its stupid but I just keep thinking its only a dress does it really matter that much when the wedding is about us celebrating being together not what I look like. I know the h2b doesn't mind at all so it is all in my head.

can you not ask a seamstress how much it would be to alter? Mine is only costing me £50 to get the back changed from buttons to a lace up back. The shop called Benjamin Roberts and they said they wouldnt change it, so the shop asked their seamstress and she said she could do it easy.

Jo, kev said you an have the dress of your dreams. If you want a dress that you are not happy in then he is not going to be best pleased. Plus it is 200pounds i sure it wont eat into your budget that much i mean i just got paid and spent 600pounds and all i have to show for it is a month of food shopping 2 pairs of jean a top, fully belly, rent and the wedding money. I have 300 pounds to buy my bus pass birthday presents and other bits. Oh dear.

I think I'm leaning towards having it done. I spoke to the MIL today and she thought the dress was fine as it is and no one really sees the back apart from when we get married as it will be tied up for the rest of the day. She has got a point but then like you girls say will I look back in years to come and wish I had done it. I've got a couple of weeks to sit and think about what to do. I'm sure between now and then I will change my mind both ways and do my own head in lol.
