Im in a pickle, not been very succesful so far in getting a job. Theres so little jobs going and so many applying at the moment that it's becoming really hard to even get an interview. it doesn't help when you had a big gap of unemployment (for me its due to having my kids) which does not look good on a cv or application form. Feeling very low, as im sure so many people are right now about this sort of thing. Anyway, im just wanting to know what you ladies think about Avon? i was thinking of doing it just as something to help while i get a job, or even carry on doing if i do get a job if it's succesful. but im really not sure weather to go for it or not as i dont want to be wasting my time doing something for nothing!!

As far as I know Avon girls earn £1 in every £4 spent by the customer, and there isn't much outlay at all. I tried doing Ann Summers and found that to be very expensive and although some of the parties I did had a fair amount spent on them, I paid more out for raffle prizes etc. and stock that I lost money. One of my neighbours has been doing Avon for a while now and she seems to find it successful, I think you just have to make sure you have plenty of friends and family that would likely buy from Avon and obviously the area you live in, is there a lot of people? I live in a small hamlet and one Avon lady is enough, but if you live in a larger area then I don't see why it shouldn't be a great way for you to make money. Good luck! x
Finally reunited with the love of my life

I have a colleague who is doing it, so if you know at least 10ppl who will order for at least £20 every two weeks or so then you are fine, but to make a living out of it, no way, it does help pay the bills, so for you in the meantime, it's fine, but don't rely on it to make a full wage, unless you have lots of contacts. A few other things like Avon are Betterware and Kleeneze but for Kleeneze starting pack is £90. I am looking into doing something extra, and found some wholesaler in China, will buy only one product in mass from them and sell it off bay of e for twice as much per unit for what I paid and will see where it takes me.
Soon to be Mrs Gary Doublé
Everything is now booked
Getting really stressed and excited now

I always found it hard to get money doing it when i did avon, i was lucky to have one woman who gave the book to her friends and so i got lots of orders off her, but i it were not for her i would not be able to get the minimum order i needed in able to start making money for myself, as it was i was lucky if i would get around £50 each new issue i handed out, that is not to say you wil not do well. Good Luck

i did avon when younger.... you get 20% but u have to buy ur books and bags etc so u need to turn over 400 plus every 3 weeks to get 100 minus expenses back
cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo
start weight 10st 1.5 lbs
weight now 8st 4.5 lbs
total loss to date: 24.5 lbs now need to maintain!
i think its becoming less of a great way to make some extra cash, as you can now order through their website, so less people will bother ordering through the books. its ok if you've been doing it for a while but not so easy to create a good sized customer base now.
have you looked into leaflet/newspaper dropping? Our local free paper always gets dropped in with a little leaflet to fill in to become one of their deliverers. its with every paper so must always be looking for people. dont know how well it pays but worth a look?

yeah, our local telegraph advertises every wk, but you get very little for a big round. i think it's more for people wanting to get out of the house or young people really. think i need to look into catalogue delivery some more, like i say, im just looking for something to help us a bit while i get a proper job. dont think i would ever think of trying to rely on this sort of thing as an actual income. but thank you ladies xx

some good idea mentioned here...if you have kids and you dont mind the workload...something as simple as packing tights its a nice little earner...every pack is 50p but if you sat at home watching x factor with the kids you could breeze throught it,...just a suggestion...with the avon and other companies.. make sure you have lots of contacts that will spend...but u just gotta c what works for u x

Avon is a good idea if you know a few ppl that like avon products. I did it up until about a year and half ago - had some family problems so took a break and my area got given to someone else and it wasn't worth my while doing it with friends and family as a lot of them did it themselves. The area I used to do it was where my parents live I arranged with all my clients what day and time suited them best for delivery and they knew that they could always pop across to my mum's to collect it themselves. Worked out pretty well for me as most of them where in around the same time so only had to pop out a couple of times every 2 weeks. Now that the ordering is done online it doesn't take to long once you get into the swing of it. Only thing is do not look in the books yourself - made the mistake a few times of spending all my profit on things for myself lol. If you do decide to do it and you have a regular set of clients that order the same keep your eyes peeled for special offers in your rep's books as you can earn yourself more money by buying it at cost price and selling it on at brochure price. I used to invite friends that used avon products round for a girls night get a load of samples in - used to make upto £200 profit by doing this esspecially if i'd pre-ordered stuff from rep book and sold at brochure price. You can always send stuff back if nobody buys it.
There are other things around too I know my auntie used to box ballons - although I have no idea how she got into that lol
Hope you sort something though x

my mum used to fold leaflets and stuff (like the cardboard folders insurance companies sometimes send your doc's in) so just fold along the creases and stick with double sided tape. she first did it from home, then when we moved she worked in the print finishing factory until her arthritis made it too dangerous to use the bulk cutting machines. when she did it at home i used to help her (shows how simple it was if at about 6 i could do it! lol) dont know what wages were like but it was her main job. not sure how you'd find out about it in your area, maybe google print finishing jobs from home?

I ve done avon n for the work put in u get very little outcome, i got orders for around £400 but after payin for brochures n bags n petrol etc i only came out with £50-60, would love to know other ways of making money as to stay on budget for the wedding we need to pay 500 a mth of it- this isnt going to happen though as i loose my job on 31st this mth n havent found another yet! Money making ideas needed for all brides !

i totally agree, the last of my money from me stopping work is gunna run out at the end of the month so im panicing about that too as i still haven't found a job yet. think i may just give the avon and other catalogue ditributions a skip. there's too much bad feedback on it. car boots are something i try to do but with partners hours n the fact he earns more on overtime than i do on the booty means we dont get much chance for doing it. but well worth doing as it defo helps. hope you find a job soon lou lou, good luck xx
