I'm having a dilemma I want to order my BM dresses but.....
I took 3 of my BM's dress shopping the other day and found a dress we all love, but my 4th BM who is my little sister is at an awkward age- 11 at the mo but will b 12 next year. She is a tall 11 yr old, but has not developed at all and has a very slender frame.
What should I do? Order just 3 BM dresses for now and leave my little sisters untill a few months before? Get her a completely different dress ie; plain with just a coloured sash to match my other BM's or buy her the same as my other BM's but in the smallest size and hope she grows a bit more and have it taken in! ( the smallest I can order is a uk size 4 but her measurements at the mo are way off, but she could have a growing spirt as she as at tht age!
Any advice would b much appreciated :-) Also anyone in a similar situation?

I think I would order the 3 bms and if you want the same dress for your sister order at a later date-she might have grown abit by then and if not it could be altered?

That's a toughie, as if you put her in a different dress you might risk making an awkward 11 year old feel all the more awkward! Realistically though i'd say a different dress is the best option. If she's mega off the smallest size you need to be honest with yourself and think about actually whether it would be possible to have it altered to fit or whether she'll actually grow.
My best friend had a similar situation with her sister, a year of telling herself "they will fit on the day" ended up in 2 weeks before me and the other BM's having to run around and get four new dresses as the fourth one still didn't fit. Needless to say it was super stressful.
I would go for the different but coordinating dress, that way you can get it nearer the time and then you'll know it'll fit. Only you know how she's gonna react but could you explain the situation to her. Can you say, you don't want her to feel awkward in a dress that doesn't fit her so you'd like her to choose a different dress nearer the time and then make a day of going shopping, have a coffee first and make her feel grown up and really included. Hopefully if she feels like she's getting to choose (with your agreement of course) it won't be a big deal on that she's in a different dress and then you can choose the dresses you really like for the others. Good luck, let us know what you decide. xx

I had a similar situation with my 9 year old cousin.... ordered my adult bms dresses but couldn't find anything quite close enough in style and colour for her. Then we found the dessy teen bms range and there was a dress in a very similar style there, although we couldn't get a colour match. Luckily we are having 2 contrasting colours (purple & teal), so my adult bms are in purple while my cousin is in teal. I let her decide which colour she wanted to make sure she was happy with it and bought her some "grown-up" shoes so she doesn't feel left out.... result is one very happy junior bm!!

im in this situation too i have 3 bridesmaids and a flower girl, i am ordering the bm dresses on the 13th and i would love to get my fg dress but her mum (my bm) has said i should leave it to nearer the time and i think i will get something off the bay of e
Hmmm its so difficult because you never know how much they will grow btwn now and then I certainly don't want to b panicking last minute about how it's gonna fit! I'm rubbish at descion making, I always ponder over things lol .....
I think I may have to get her a plain ivory dress and order the same fabric as my other BM's to make the sash. Luckily she likes the idea of having a different dress to the others - I think it makes her feel special.

Have you looked at the designer's website to see if they do a junior version of the dress? xx

hi thanks to everyone for their advice, turns out my sister is too tall for a junior dress anyway! so we have ordered the smallest adult size - the lady in the dress shop doesnt seem too worried about this and also the dress are laces up at the back which helps!
fingers crossed xxx :-)

Fingers crossed it works out. A good seamstress would be able to sort out most fitting challenges, especially if they require taking a dress in.
