hi ladies the venue i have has two rooms the one i choose says is seats 60 for the meal then 150 in the evening which is perfect at i have 60 day guests then over 100 evening guests. but when your in the room it just doesnt seem big enough at all, once i add a cake table, candy cart stand, wishing tree, photo booth etc it just dont seem big enough to me all the other venues i went to the rooms were bigger. the second bigger room avaliable says it seats 200 for the meal then 400 evening guests but i just dont think so at all. help what should i do i dont want to have my guest squashed in the room but i dont want the room to look empty either!!!

I think it is really quite deceiving. My room said it seats 120 for a ceremony and 90 for a meal, and when you look at the room you wonder how on earth they do, but they do!

They are always bigger than they look. See if you can view before the next wedding and see it all set up x

Do what I did, google "venue'sname wedding" and click on images. See if there are any images of your room fully laid out for someone else's wedding. You might have to add the name of the area in your google image search.

I found dozens of pictures of my 2 rooms this way and in most of them they are set up for weddings.

I too have queried if my venue really can seat 100 people around tables but I've been assured by someone who attended another wedding there that they can. I can also make room for dj area and a dance floor.

By the way I agree with the poster who said to ask if you can go one day to see the tables and chairs laid out for someone else's wedding of the same size.

I'd go and see it laid out; simply because we viewed a couple, and I just didn't believe they could comfortably accommodate the numbers they said they could, and seeing it laid out proved me right; the tables were really close together, guests would struggle to get in and out, etc. Not saying they all do that (some we viewed were overly conservative IMO; one reckoned 150 standing and I think it would comfortably have accommodated 200-250), but it helps you visualise things.

I'd also mention all the extras you plan on having; most will work out capacity based on, say, room for a DJ/band, and space for the buffet tables. If you plan on having a lot of extras, this might limit your space.

I'm sure it'll be fine. The venue will know what their capacity is. I defo think looking up some images of it set up, or going to see it set up as others have suggested is a good idea. Try the idea of googling other peoples wedding photos, with so many online galleries nowadays its quite easy to get a good look at your venue as it will be on the day. I've looked at loads of couples weddings albums from our venue! I always check every few more in case a new set has come up! Sad I know, but I just like looking at it! Does anyone else look at other wedding photos of their venue ? Or is it just me?

I thought this about my venue too but then I saw a photo of it set up with enough tables and chairs out to seat the maximum amount of guests (yes, I sat there and counted them! lol) and there was still space between the tables and chairs and enough space for cake table, sweet buffet, and band if we wanted one. So definately ask to see it set up and it may suprise you xxx
