I really need help finding a honeymoon in the UK. It is for July 2013 and we are on about a £500 budget for hotel inc breakfast for a week.
The problem is, i am looking for somewhere where loads of things to do (we are not laying around on the beach people). Blackpool for example is fab as it has the tower, zoo, theme park, dungeon, circus etc.. we just been there this year on hols though so that is out of the question..
Any ideas??? :) x

How about a cottage in either cornwall or the lake district? Cornwall has a great mixture of seaside and countryside and lots to do?
When my H2B and i started dating we went on a camping trip in England. We went to Wookie Hole and Cheddar Gorge, and ended up in Monmouthshire. We had the BEST time. Of all those places though i'd recommend Cheddar Gorge the most. Its STUNNING and there is lots to do in the area (its in Somerset). Have a look at Cheddar Gorge and the area.
Alternatively we visit cornwall a lot, and its packed with things to do, but its not so easy to stay cheap there.

What about lake district there is loads of things to do there x

I am from Great Yarmouth and there is loads to do around there. If you stayed by the Norfolk broads then you would have a lovely location but it is still close enough to the sea front, theme park, circus, sea life centre and then if you wanted something a bit different Norwich is only a 40 minute drive away and they have a big shopping centre, cinema complex and the castle museum xxx

Well I live near Bournemouth and there's quite a lot to do in this area, although no rides like in Blackpool. BUt we generally have good weather,GREAT beaches, nice pier, New Forest on the doorstep, close to other lovely parts of dorset like Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Old Harry Rocks (Brad Pitt was in Lulworth Cove filming this weekend apparently!!).
If you ever want any other info then I'm happy to help - it does have a lovely holiday feel down here in summer :-)
CommentAuthorJules81
By the way, when I say we generally have good weather, I mean as good as the UK gets in summer!!!!!

Oooooh sounds interesting! I shall google it right now!

Last year we went on a road trip - camping to start in the lake district then drove up and around Scotland. Was amazing and we stayed in a mix of places, some cheap (camp site) some mid range and one nice night in the middle at a bit nicer place. We travelled right up into the highlands it was fab and we had such fun. We also timed it to go to Edinburgh during the festival - lots to see and do there.

I think there's actually so much to do in our own country/isles that when you sit down and think about where to go it's a pretty hard decision x
We're either going on honeymoon (minimoon) to denmark/austria or a cottage somewhere in the uk because we'l have a 7 month old baby so I'm stalking your thread for ideas of my own ;-)

It's posh camping, so tents normally set up with all facilities and ready for you! If you don't want a normal hotel/b&b it's a good option or a cottage or Yurk.

How about York, or anywhere in Yorkshire really?? York has the history and lots of places to visit - and it's not too far to drive to the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales, great shopping in Leeds - and for rides there's Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley. There's definitely paintballing places around as well, as well as go karting circuits.
CommentAuthorbeanies girl
The yorkshire dales would be a good place. You can rent a cosy cottage and use it as a base. Lots of herritage sites, pubs, bars, walks etc. Alternativey how about staying somewhere near alton towers? That would be fun!!
CommentAuthorLauraJo87
Yorks great, and an ideal location - Leeds is only twenty minutes on the train from there too.
Or how about edinboro?

I went to torquay in March... I'd definitely recommend it. Paignton zoo was amazing, the national aquarium was also the best aquarium we have ever been too, there's lots to do around there like the Eden Project... We will defo go back!
Also glamping in Yurts or pods is so much fun. I am going to a stop in a Yurt in York - let me know if you want details as it looks amazing!! They have showers/toilets IN a tent! haha xx

Boscundle Manor in Cornwall is really lovely and special, not too big but has spa facilities if you want them and an outdoor hot tub and indoor pool. Rooms are lovley and you can get great deals on late rooms, it's 10mins max to Eden Project which is fantastic and once you have your ticket you can go back as many times as you like and close to beaches and walks as well as an hour fromExeter for shopping. It also has a great restaurant. We went for a special occassion and hope to return to honeymoon :D

We went to Devon last year and love it...we were constantly doing something! And we were able to travel around that area, so went to lands end, cornwall, st ives...ect ect. I would deffinatly recommend it!
Theres so much to do and see. We went to a glass shop and had our hands made into a glass ornament <3
We payed £40 for a 4 night stay with a newspaper deal and there were sending us offers to upgrade the caravan to platimum (the best caravans) for about £60. Deffo keep your eyes peeled for them. We even got our codes offline (naughty naughty).

York is great, they have the historic walls, minster, the shambles, Viking experience, dungeons, 'haunted' tours of the town, romantic starlit evening boat cruises on the river (ok, can't guarantee the stars!), lots of lovely little national trust properties with their own stories behind them, shopping (lots of unique shops too), great places to eat, art gallery, theatres, railway museum, York 'eye'/wheel... I can give you the name of a great little b&b walking distance of the city centre (with their own parking) if you like - its not fancy but very comfortable, friendly owners (been there for my brothers wedding and been back since - its the location that's spot on)

Well if your at all outdoorsy there is a lovely hotel out at the Langdales, quite near Ambleside in the Lake District, its a few miles down the road from where I go camping and right next to a gorgeous river and a couple of really good pubs plus a restaurant, but I think its one you would a car for or a love for walking : )
It looks a bit pricey but quite often does special offers.
