I was wondering whether all you lovely brides and brides to be could help me!
We are having a Cornish seaside themed wedding (albeit in the middle of Cambridgeshire no where near a beach!) and we are really stuck on what drinks to have with our wedding breakfast.
We are having Cornish ale and Cornish cider for welcome drinks, along with mini Cornish pasties as canapés. Our wedding breakfast is fish and chips following by cream tea and cakes (and tea and coffee).
We were originally going for the usual wine on the table (especially as the venue has a vineyard on site) however I really don't like wine! So we started to think of other things to have that is a bit different, but have come to a stand still! The wedding planner has suggested lager and pimms but it's coming out about £300 more expensive than the wine, which is budget we don't have (especially with 3 months to go there is still lots to buy, book, plan and decide).
We are trying to think of drinks that when you go to the seaside you are likely to have!
Any ideas?!?! We might just see if we can give everyone a "free" drink of their choice from the bar but it would be good to have something on the tables.
Many thanks in advance!

The only alcoholic option I can really think of is cocktails... but that would end up expensive and you're never going to choose a cocktail that will please everyone. A good non-alcoholic option could be fresh lemonade?

The only stand out drinks for fish and chips for me is either a beer or a cup of tea! I do think the option of a drink from the bar is a good idea. You may need to limit it to certain beers / wins if not people will be ordering double bacard1s and cokes lol. This way it will be very easy for you to have what you want to drink without it looking different to everyone else.

or what about a fruity spirit with lemonade.
My favorite beach/summer drink is Sloe vodka with lemonade.

What about a nice summery spirit like Malibu or Archers served with Lemonade?
For a selection of non-alcoholic drinks you could have cream soda or dandelion & burdock.
There's lots of flavoured and fruity ciders out there now that you could offer instead of your standard cider.
Or you could offer slushies with a choice of shot in?

ohh the other thing is I once had a lovely champagne cocktail of champagne with strawberry juice in it. I wonder if it would work with prosecco or other sparkling wines

Prosecco and Chambord is lovely. Its a raspberry liqueur so don't see why strawberry juice wouldn't work.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Spoken to OH and have decided on alcoholic ginger beer and cloudy lemonade (in separate jugs, not together!) Loving the idea of prosecco and strawberry juice though so might look at that for the toast!

I'm Cornish and although I love Cider I'm a wine drinker at heart lol. I know most of the cider farms around here do their own ginger beer too so that's a good choice, failing that you could always have flagons of scrumpy on the table, you might find some of your guests don't make it past desserts tho. Just make sure you put your cream tea together the right way.... Jam first :)

Oh yes Mrs D2B definitely Jam first!! wouldn't have it any other way!! I did consider scrumpy but yeah would like the day guests to be able to dance in the evening and enjoy the whole day without passing out!
