Is anyone else doing this?? My engagement ring is White Gold which I was told at time of buying looses it's colour so every so often you have to put it in to be dipped (rhodium plated) again. Don't know if anyone has done this and is it worth it?? When I put my engagement ring next to my wedding ring they look like two totally different colours even although my wedding ring is white gold it's just because my enagement ring has lost some of it's colour and I don't want to have a nice sparkly wedding ring and a dull engagement ring next to it. I have been quoted £25 which I think is quite reasonable and it should take 7/10 days so going to put my ring in about 4wks before the wedding can't believe i'm going to have to part with it tho. xxx

I think you should have it done for that price it sounds good value! I was thinking the same as you, my wedding ring is all sparkly and my engagment ring looks dull, so I think I will go for it as well nearer the time. Get yourself a cheap costume ring to replace it so your finger doesn't feel lost without it lol ;) It's just strange not wearing a ring on that finger isn't it? xxx

I'm going to get mine done about a month before the wedding.

Does anyone know whether that would get rid of a small scratch I caused when I fell over?

Silly question - but if you get your engagement ring dipped - will that and the wedding ring then be exactly the same colour then or could they still differ slightly?

I need to get mine done too! I have been trying wedding rings on and my engagement ring looks a totally different colour and dull. I have been quoted 10 pound for mine by an independant jeweller, so I would check around for prices ladies

This sounds like a great idea! Does anyone know if you can do this with platinum (as this is what my engagement ring is) ?? xx

White gold gets its colour from rhodium plating- hence why it needs replating. Platinum shouldn't need replating- maybee it just needs cleaning?

Yeah, platinum should be platinum the whole way through! The place I bought my engagement ring said I could take it back to have it cleaned though.

Becky, I reckon that unless it's covered in scuffs and scratches, you should be able to do it yourself.

I will be getting mine done before the weddeing as my engagement ring is vintage so is quite dull compared to brand new shiny ones (but I still love it!) :)
