We were looking at villas for honeymoon last night and the one we've fallen in love with is in Lanzarote.. The thing is, we've both been to fuerteventura and neither of us liked how windy it was there.. I have g00ged both places and a lot of people say Lanzarote isn't as windy as Fuerteventura but then there's the few people that have said its as windy, if not windier..
Has anyone been to both to offer me a comparison ??
Also what are the beaches like in Lanzarote ? The beach where we went in Spain this year was evil, made up of pebbles and broken shells so you couldn't bury your feet from the heat.. I got cuts and blisters on the bottom of my feet from spending 5 mins on there so we couldn't go to the beach for the rest of the holiday :-( xxx

What part of Lanzarote are you looking at? I have been to both and would say that Lanzarote has a breeze going throughout the day but I wouldn't call it windy, personally I thought Fuerteventura has a stronger breeze but again I wouldn't say it is windy but I quite like having a breeze to cool me down when it is hot. Also, the closer you are to the beach then the windier it will be xxx

When I used to be cabin crew we used to ALWAYS have turbulence going into FUE but flying into Arrecife was never that bad to be honest.
I used to love night stops in Lanzarote. Beautiful place!

Well, I've short listed 7 but only 3 have a Saturday departure date it seems, so H2B can look tonight :-) 2 in Puerto Del Carmen and one in Playa Blanca.. There might be more available by booking time next year, but worth a gander anyway to get an idea :-) xxx

I hated lanzarote, it was cold windy and boring. cant actually comment on feurtaventura, but I know I wont be back to lanzarote anytime ever. that was in April, dunno if the weather would be any different at whatever time youre thinking of
edit* that said I really enjoyed our day trip out exploring the island, we went to the volcano where the floor was hot saw camels and albino crabs and the landscape was beautiful, there just wasn't enough to do for my liking *(we stayed in playa blanca) so maybe im being a tad unfair as apparently that is a quiet spot, it was just the weather, I didn't want to be on holiday and be cold when id be told it was gunna be boiling lol

Puerto del Carmen is gorgeous. We stayed there in April last year - and the temperature was on average around 30 degrees most days, with very little breeze (just enough to keep you from being too hot). The beaches are lovely and clean, it's flat so you can actually walk the seafront for miles (or even take a taxi as the prices are metred for different distances so you don't get ripped off) and there's a lot of local bars and restaurants, especially near the harbour, in the old town (and very reasonable). If you decide to stay nearer the new town (the strip) that's a bit louder when it comes to nightlife (but some good bars) - and there's one point on the strip that is like a precinct full of nightclubs (didn't appeal to us though).
Also, it's not far from the Timanfaya National Park which is the volcanic area of Lanzarote and which you can visit on excursions etc. They also have a lovely restaurant high up in the park with views right across to the sea. We visited the park and also a lovely vineyard (and just had to buy some of the wine lol).
One tip though - avoid Rancho Texas!! We expected a night out with barbeque and entertainment - and all we got was a glorified working mens club with a very strict amount of food that you were allowed (not a buffet or barbeque) and entertainment aimed at kids and young families.
