First off, I want to say I missed this place for about 4-5months. Everything has just gone soo wrong lately. All the money we had saved for the wedding has gone... but not on wedding stuff. Let me tell you from the start...
We got made homeless about 3months ago, so at last moment the H2B's step brother said we could stay at his for a while, until we got a new place. So we squished all of our things into his house and lived there for about a month, in that time we where filling out some forms to get a house just up the street from him, and our saving was still going really well. On the day we got told we could move in and to go get the keys, Levi (our staffy) got ran over, and his head got dragged along with the car for at least a meter or so... I thought I had lost him for a few moments but he jumped up and ran half way down the street then froze. H2B ran down the street after him and picked him up and as he was walk back up to me all I saw was loads of blood dripping from him. In my head was just "OMG! OMG! OMG! PLEASE BE OKAY! PLEASE BE OKAY!" We sat him down while we waited for H2B's dad to come take us to the vets and I just gave him a quick check over he had lost most of his skin on one side of his head and one of his back legs where just poring with blood and he was missing a toe, so rapped a towel and two king size bed sheets around his leg and popped him in the car. The first vets we went too turned him away because we didn't have £200 on us at the time. - Who in there right mind thinks about picking that much money up after they just saw that happen too there dog!! Anyways the second vets we went to just saw the amount of blood on H2B's jeans and shoes and said bring him in right now. After they had done some x-rays on him and cleaned up all his wounds they called us back in. He couldn't have stitches as the wounds where to wide and deep but thankfully he didn't brake any bones - not sure how he managed that. Anyways getting to the point now... we had to take him back and forth to the vets every two days to get his bandage changed - it was massive. And this went on for almost 2months, the bill getting ever higher and higher. Yesterday we went to the vets and he finally got "signed off" even though it's not fully healed or closed up yet, he doesn't have too go back. But basically all the money we have saved for the wedding so far would only cover half of his vet bill so we have used that... and my plan of selling some things we don't use any more to get more money for the wedding is going to have to go on paying the vets. So all in all we have no money for the wedding now... my plan to get more money isn't going to work. I just feel like it's never going to happen. [sobs]

Aww your poor dog, Im glad that hes on the mend although sounds like he has a bit of a journey left to go. You still have plenty of time to get yourself back on your feet, maybe concentrate on sorting your family and your dog out first, then discuss the money for the wedding and see what you can afford. It might be that you start with a smaller day and have a renewal a few years later with all the original things you wanted? xxx

That was the H2B's plan. Before that all happened, so he might get what he wanted all along. xx
CommentAuthornatalie2614
Its not that h2b will have wanted that all along, hes just thinking practically based on your circumstances. Maybe leave the wedding talk until you're back on your feet and then discuss it again with him? xx

Oh my gosh - I am so relieved your pooch is okay! At least the money was spent on something that means a lot to you both and was well worth spending by the sounds of it!
As natalie said, you have plenty of time to get your funds in place so don't worry right now.
One tip that I can give you that has saved us masses of money is by making things yourself - we made our invites, rsvps, menu choices, tableplan, postbox, centre pieces ourselves and then bought things cheaply from the bay - eg my moh's dress should have been £120 at the big department store starting with D and I got it for £15 from the bay. My bm's dresses were £10 each from the jungle name website.
Just slow and steady and you'll get there!

:( I hope your continues to heal up well. You've proved you can save up, so you'll just have to start saving up again. but you can do it.

He has done as he wants our kids at our wedding, but I said I wanted to be married before we had kids, so he wanted to have a tiny inexpensive one have kids then have the perfect one with our kids there. But yer I'm glad too I thought I had lost him for sure when it happened. It's just going to take for ever... Well that's how it feels...

Oh Hun this is horrible news but I am glad you pooch is on the ment and hopefully he will 100% soon x
With reagrds to the funds you still have a reasonable time to savve and have a very lovely wedding (it may not be everthing you wanted) but you have put the funds towards something that is dear to your heart like NinaP said its not like you have gone out clubbing or new clothes it was for part of your family.
It will be a slow hard slog at first to get urself going but you have done it once and you will do it again and get teh funds you need. Like toerhs there is plenty of ways to savev a few extra pounds and no doubt the ladies on ehre will try and advise as best as we can to get you some bargins.

OMG, im so glad your doggy is ok, thats terrible. But like the other girls have said, yes you've lost your wedding fund however its not been to waste, its gone on something that means a lot to both of you and the fact he's ok sounds like it was definitely worth it. I cannot believe a Vet turned you away though, thats absurd!!! Beyond a joke. Im so glad hes ok though.
You have got plenty of time to sort funds out and yes it means having to wait for your special day but hun, it'll be so worth it once it gets here, i can tell you that now!! It will be hard to wait but you can do it! As NinaP suggested, as do alot of brides on here, maybe think about ways of cutting costs, making things yourself, have you got anyone in your friends / social network who can use a camera well, makes cakes, does calligraphy... all things like that, im sure if you ask around people will certainly be up for helping you!
Like everything else, the things that take time and patience are the most rewarding! We're all here to support you don't worry! xx

Thanks. You ladies are starting to make me get my hope back. Think I'm going to start my pound for a pound, a fiver for a skiver again - Basically put £1 in a jar every time I loose pound in weight (mam is also putting £5 in to every pound I put in) and a £5 every time I don't eat healthy or do a workout. That should hopefully get me started again... [fingers crossed] xx

Absolutely disgusted at the attitude of that first vet.
I'm glad it all turned out ok in the end though, even if it did end up sucking up all your savings, which is a massive bummer, but at least on the mend and that's worth more than any money and you were fortunate enough to have to cash for his bills so not in a potentially worse situation :)
Good luck saving up your funds again.. and probably too little too late, but get the little bugg3r insured! x

I'm so sorry you had to go through all that and I'm so happy your baby is going to be ok. I'm a dog owner too and know how much they mean to us. I hope you don't think I'm being preachy here because that's not my intention but you might want to look into getting some pet insurance. Ours is £10 a month which seems like a lot when you're wedding saving but it means when the worst happens you don't have to panic about the bill. Just something to think about. :-)
As for saving, as the others have said you've got plenty of options. You've managed to save before so you can do it again, just move the date to a time you can manage. Have a smaller do, registry office and function room party/BBQ afterwards. High street dresses or china dresses, foam flowers rather than silk etc.
Again so glad your baby is ok and hope you and H2B come up with a plan for the wedding.

I know literally a week before it happened we picked up a bunch of leaflets on pet insurance... wish we picked them up sooner. Just our luck though.
Well hopefully within the next month we will have the money back for the wedding rings at £112 with the engraving [fingers crossed] and I will be buying them straight away this time.

Im really sorry to hear about your dog, but at least hes ok. I would really recommend the insurance, you just never know and you have lots of time you will just have to jump back on it and start saving again. We have managed to save more but cutting back our spending, we write shopping lists and only buy what we need and also i am making all my own stationary and its a lot cheaper. Look on the bay and also amazon. If you still dont have enough money you could have the small intimate wedding and then the big one to celebrate a special anniversary when you have children. Good luck x x

Surely whoever ran your dog over should be covering your vets costs? If it was a person or an object that the driver hit then surely the insurance would cover it. If the driver drove off contact the motor insurance bureau they may be able to help/ advise. It seems unfair if you're covering the fees.
Glad to hear your pooch is ok though xx

Am so sorry to hear this, what a stressful time, at least your dog is on the mend though.
I know it seems like starting again, but it is amazing what you can save and as soon as you start, you will feel better.
