If you want a summer Saturday, then as early as possible, cos those dates go very early.

I would try book asap to avoid being disappointed, we booked over a month ago and had a choice of 6 Saturdays for the whole of 2012 was just lucky that there was one in the month of June which we wanted from the start. We held it for 2 weeks whilst we looked elsewhere but then secured it by paying the £500 deposit or else they would have released th date again....x

From my experiences in the months of June/July/August then yep there was not much to choose from as a Friday would have been our second option x

Our venue allowed us to express our interest in our date prior to actually paying the deposit and then they let us have first refusal when someone else wanted to pick it. I have found talking to people on here that the bigger and more popular the venue sometimes the less flexible they are though. You will just have to speak to your chosen venue and see what they say it is a popular time and books up really quickly particularly the most popular venues but bear in mind that the lady at the fair deals with weddings day in and out and you are only dealing with this one so perhaps she was a little insensitive to your feelings and you can't book until you can afford to pay the deposit after all. I have an outline of a timeline that I found in a wedding mag which was really helpful and I am happy to copy out and send it on. Stop panicking and enjoy planning your day in your own time, take your time and make sure you get the day you really want. x

some venues take booking up to 2 years in advance, so for them it will seem that your leaving it later than others. If you know your venue will be free in June...wait til June xxx

depends on the venue popuality and your date, we booked our venue beginning of last year and we arent getting married until may 2011 think by then we would of had our venue booked 2yrs inadvance as its a busy one and when we booked it there was already a booking for 2011 xx

We were really lucky. Our venue had only just started advertising on the net a week before we booked our date (thats how I found it, I had driven past the driveway to it a thousand times, just never knew it was there). Within 3 months it is fully booked each sat until late next year. I was very lucky to get a venue with 7 months notice. Get it penciled in and if you change your mind, let it go xx

I am looking to book for a friday in August and have been to a few places and they haven't said anything like that, they have maybe 1 or 2 dates in August booked, so you should get a friday when you book in June. I have found venues will hold your date for 2 weeks so when you know what date you will have your deposit, just get the venue to hold your place 2 weeks before.
