I gave up for a few months, (but stupidly started again) ... the crankiness tends to go within 2 weeks, but you'll find you always "could do with one" (or thats what I felt, and most people I spoke to thought the same) Have you told H2B why you're being cranky? and that you love him, and don't mean it? ;) works wonders x

he knows why im being like this, and he says i can be as b itchy as i want and he knows i love him, to bits but i feel awful for having such a bas temper! 3 weeks? o god. i am so tempted to start again but im not going to. looks like ill just have to ride it out! h2b smokes so that doesnt make it any easier but i have banned all smoking around me, i cant even look at an ashtray without wanting to lick it to death! im thinking of covering myself in patches! muhaha! xx

I gave up just over 5 years ago. I dont have will power but I am very forgetful lol. So every-time I wanted a cig I'd do a chore/job anything to occupy your hands. By the time I had finished said job I had forgotten to have a cig. My house had never been so clean and I gave up lol. Also the longer I went the more determined I became not to have one. Just take each day at a time its a lot easier to bear xx

I gave up last summer and then stupidly started again though drinking at xmas. I stopped again in Feb and havn't had one since.

I had tried in the past and failed but I found that the stop smoking DS game by Dr Alan Carr is FAB!!! I used it when I quit in the summer. I also sent off for a quit kit from the NHS and found the tangle really helpful. It keeps your hands busy. I didn't use any medication. I didn't want to because I felt like it was cheating coz I would still be addicted to nicotine.

I didn't have any cravings at all on week 2 yet I found the wall chart they gave me said stuff like "It may be hard but please carry on using your patches on day 28...it was a bit of a p*ss take to be fair, I wanted the whole -Yay well done, you have cracked it type messages so if your not going to replace the fags for nicotine medicine, I wouldn't use that bit.

But Sophie, you CAN DO IT!! and YOU WILL DO IT!! You don't need it, its smelly, expensive and just have this image in your head....
Gorgeous big white princess dress, all your hair and make up done, getting out of a lovely posh car ready to make your grand entrance into your wedding you look a million dollars...then you go and ruin it and shatter the whole illusion by sticking a fag in your gob. lol. You don't wanna do that do you?

You go girl, your strong enough to beat it!! We are all behind you. xxx

i got a quit kit a couple of months ago. my dog had more interest in playing with the tangle than i did! the nhs programme is really good, i have to go and see this woman once a week but she's great. i have a no smoking box where my ashtray used to be and its got teeth whitener, mints, lollies chewing gum and mouth spray in it, the patches seem to be working but the hand to mouth thing is hard so the inhalator is helping. ill be using a lower strength patch in 2 weeks and after that id have brought myself off it slowly. it was costing me £35 a week, its riddiculous! all that money is going into a tin towards my hen do-ita going to be a right day out-ill have loads to spend! xx

my h2b has promised me he will have quit before we get married. but he said he's not telling anyone when he's doing it as it makes it worse when people keep asking about it all the time. but he had about 5 fags the other day so its not any time soon lol x

I gave up smoking 2 years ago, I did do it through hypnotism though. I tried to do it by myself and spent the whole 4 days crying so I started again. I just needed a little extra help. I still every now and then feel like I could do with a cigarette but the idea of actually putting one in my mouth makes me feel sick!!
Keep going girly, You're doing really well. xxx

I gave up this January. I am 42 this year and have smoked since I was 16. I have tried and failed only once before as I was giving up for my then boyfriend NOT me.
You sound resentful that you are having to give up your fags? You need to want to do this, or it won't happen. Give yourself an insentive eg... I have a jam jar that I put £170 a month in ( what I spent on fags) It is paying for our wedding!
If you spend all day stressing about not being able to have a fag .. then I'd re-think what you need to do to be a success.
It isn't easy, the nicotine replacements don't always work, ( they help) even after many weeks you might still want a fag, it's being able to say "I am smoke free! " instead of "I'm GIVING UP!" as that makes it sound like you are missing something increadible when we all know fags wreck your health and wealth and make you smell horrible, give you yellow teeth, stain your fingers, & make you a slave to nicotine.... but you have to make the choice to give up when you are ready. DO IT FOR YOU xx
