I was looking at the cost of wedding flowers and noticed the prices are stupid just cuz it says wedding bouquet.

Has anyone just bought a bouquet of luxury flowers from say marks n sparks and bought ribbon to make their own hand tied posies for bridesmaids for example? I was looking at some of their flowers online and thought that would be a cost effective way to have fresh flowers as you can order the bouquets online to be delivered to your door for you to adjust them say the day or two before the wedding

    What do you think? xxx

I did think about doing that, but whenever my h2b buys me a bouquet of flowers they look lovely until I get my hands on them, lol. They certainly don't look as good in the vase as they do wrapped up. But in saying that if you are good with your hands, and as you are just tying them up again rather than trying to shove them in a vase like I do then I am sure it will look great! :D xxx

Just have a practice and see what happens, can't hurt. x

Yeah I was thinking of maybe ordering a cheaper bunch of like roses or something and having a play around as my mum is good at flower arranging as she did a course so she could help me its just the timing i am worried about. Thing is I can get a lovely big bouquet for £35 which will do my 3 BMs and then just get one large bouquet for me and re tie it with my colour scheme ribbons when my mum has finished with it so I can walk down the aisle with it.

Dunno how it will work out but if anyone else has had a go at this or got pics i'd love to see as it may help my budget seeing as my dress came to more than i thought it would x

Ok i worked in florist as sat girl and picked up a few tips so hope this helps girls! Hand tied boquets worked best when making self by making sure you use odd numbers ie 1 flower in middle 3 pieces of filler such as gyspy/babysbreath around that then 3 flowers, repeat process with gyp using 3 pieces this time then 5 flowers in the spaces and so on failing that use a search engine on how to make you own hand tied boquets and it will have examples, and always remember its best to do it day before any longer and the flowers will start to "droop" and look half dead and keep in fridge over night :) and if using ribbon to wrap around posy handle do it at latest possible last min :) hope that works/helps girls if anyone wants any hints either ask me on her pm me or add me as friend :)

Good news is I found that you can have them delivered to M&S store and pick them up so you can arrange a specific delivery date. Might look into it further to guarantee that I can get them when I want them. Am gonna have a look for some how to make hand tied posies on you tube but i think i get what you mean sk8rpunkbarbie so thank you very much :D xxx

Yeah M&S have some lovely bouquets that aren't too expensive I was planning to make my posies from but I was looking at personalising them by adding my own ribbon and colour scheme and after Mitch's suggestion maybe some crystals :) x

Its saving money and its more personal than getting someone else to do it. Your gonna have an idea in your head of what you want and if your creative you can maybe do it yourself. Thats what im hoping to do anyway XxX

If i can get someone to do it cheap for me but look really nice then yeah i'll get them to do it but if it works out cheaper to get the flowers and bits and pieces then i'll make them myself. I make xmas wreaths at xmas time and they turn out really good but its super messy so why not try out making my bouquets?

Put the lillie in warmish water to open them up if closed and take the stamens out you dont want dresses getting stained! Also hobbycraft have a floral oasis i think its called flower spray glue and loads of coloured glitters i think the glitter on the roses rather then little or pearl/diamontee pins would look brill or just use glitter on lillies nothing on roses. In regards to ribbon wide wired ribbon such as 4 inches wide is best as give best coverage of stems and then use pearl or diamontee pines to secire in place from top to bottom but push the pins up towards flower heads or itll poke thro other side of boquet! Also a lot of mags are no featuring broaches ect as a focal point on boquet handles so you can even use a glue gun to add that vintage touch if wanted :)
