I have really set my heart on having a Harp playing while I walk down the isle and during the ceremony. I have looked at a few companys but they are so expensive .... My mum said to buy a cd and have that playing.... Im just not happy with it tho.... I dunno what to do!!!

Mine is £50 an hour and I don't think that is a bad price so shop about and see if you can find anyone cheaper. Check out your local music schools too as someone there may be able to help you out.

it is always nicer to have live music and the guests will really enjoy it and will notice,,,, not that theres anything bad having a cd but they will notice the extra work and effort. Go to the nearest university and enquire.... they will be much cheaper as they want experience but make sure you hear them first. We were going to go to the unis but decided to play it safe and use the recommended suppliers for the venue but as a result had to spend a packet on string quartet. Good luck.

I'm having a string quartet too but I only managed to book one I liked last week after hearing tons of them. I was thinking I was going to have to go down the CD route but thankfully I managed to find a good group. If you can't find one then a CD will do the job as well but a live musician will set the atmosphere alive. I'm paying £460 for the first hour then £120 an hour afterwards. Not sure how many hours I can afford though. lol. xxx

Wow .... I best get saving..... I have listened to some songs the harpist have put on their web sites. I have found one that I really like and sounds amazing. I have shot myself in the foot slightly by getting married 200 miles away from my home. It is really hard to just go looking in the area for these things. Most of my looking will need to be done by by internet and aything eye catching will be worth a visit!!!

Have you tried contacting your local wedding fairs or getting the wedding white pages? I found mine at a wedding fair. We thought she would be really expensive so nearly fell over when she told us her prices. Also have a look on google and ring around some of the entertainment sites as sometimes they can come up with some gems for you. If you can't afford the whole string quartet why not ask them how much it would be just for the violinist? It would sound lovely even as a solo but won't cost as much as the full quartet.

I'm getting married on a Sunday and ours will cost £300 for her to play at our ceremony and through the meal. She also sings in gaelic which will fit into our wedding pefectly with it being all things Scotland.

I can play the recorder and the piano a little bit. I could always come up for free hahahah. It would be very entertaining but not sure if for the right reasons.

Heheheh jo you can come for the drinks then!!!!!! lol.
I have chosen my Harpist and will be paying the deposit at the end of the month. She is sharging £395 for the cereoney and the wedding breakfast. She said she could also put some soft vocal in if I wanted. Im not sure I want her to sing but we will see. I could change my mind.
I dont want the 'here comes the bride' song, I find it irritating somewhat (no ofence intended here)! Id rather have a nice classical song. Personal opinion

We atr having a harpist in the church, she will be playing whilst the guests are arriving, then while i walk down the aisle, while we sign the register and as we walk back up the aisle, about an hour in total, and we have been quoted £300!!! Mmm might look around. Xx
Can't wait to become Mrs Hardwicke. . .

A string quartet is two violins, a viola and a cello xx
