why not get one of those money tins from the pound shop and at the end of the day put you 3 highest coins in it ... that will soon mount up.
or
have a set amount come out of your bank to go into a seperate account each month, you will start to not realise its going and if you shop around you could get a fair rate of interest on it
Set up a standing order into a seperate account. Open a wedding account, and set up a standing order of £10 or £20 a week, from yours and h2b's account. You will barely notice it and it builds up quickly.

hahaha straight to the point lala x
I've set up a direct debit for my pay day into an account i've not got easy access to. I've also got someone doing a savings club at work so giving bits to them whenever I can. it's all adding up slowly but I can see going to have to do some serious saving after having a few unexpected things to pay x
Me and my h2b have quite low incomes, and I'm self employed so we never know how much I am going to earn in a month!!
We have opened a wedding account and any money we get given by family or friends goes in there!! (the sooner the better interest might be not be grat but it does make a difference esp with ISA's) Then we only but things with cash and empty our accounts at the end of the month when all the bills are paid. and put this into the wedding account. And because we only use cash anytthing we have left over when we go to bed goes into pots that we have to smash to get the money out!! (Gold in one Silver in another etc)
Apart ftom that lot - we have sold everything that we dont need, or use on a regular basis there is now no cds, games or Dvds in my house!!! and h2b is trying to sell his car towards it!!
Dont buy wnything you dont need - esp food!! I plan out our weekly meals and snacks and only order what I have on the list!! It really cuts down on the cost!! I have also started ordering my shopping online (recomend a**a) that way you can tpick things up on your way round and you only see the deals on thing you need!! (order it to come in the day if you can £2.50 - unlike T's which is £5 plus) then go back on the site and check your reciept and you get money back for it!! only couple of pound but again it makes a difference!!
Also I complete surveys and get paid for them it takes time, but soon mounts up, run a couple of accounts and ask you h2b to do them or friends!!
Hope this helps!!!

i've got kids so i have my child benefit go into a bank account in another bank every month. i don't know the pin number for the card and that mounts up really quickly!! also saving maintenance for my eldest child in same account.
i've never been good at saving, but i cannot believe how much i have saved and still getting the occassional takeaway and wee splurge on the kids too!! in all honesty, i can't understand why we were so skint before!!!!!!!!!! lol just shows if i put my mind to it i can do it!!
i don't ever carry cash so i can't save in a jar.
I'M MARRIED!!!

Hi,
We are saving by 1. Clearing all debt on credit cards, store cards etc 2. Taking all credit and store cards out of our purse/wallets to stop impulse buying. ( you really have to think then if you really need it and do you have the ££) 3. Looking at all our utilities and insurance and switching to cheaper deals. The money save goes into the wedding fund 4. Limiting nights out to special occasions 5. Food shopping on line so no impulse buying ( this has saved us loads) 6. We opened a bank account that cannot be touched for 1yr and pays high interest. 7. Christmas is fast approaching so we have told our Family not to expect much and our friends we will only be buying for the kids this year
Don't get me wrong I am finding it tough (I am a bit of a shoppaholic and the thought of not shopping is kiliing me!!!) but so far we have saved about £1500 and we only started at the end of May. Ultimatley it is SOOOOO worth it.

me and my partner works out our bills for the month as his working abroad his phone bill is pretty high most months grrrr!! anyways then we decide on what spending money we have for the month then put the rest away he usually puts 700 in to the wedding fund a month and goes in to a joint account know as the wedding account and because i dont get paid that much i pay 200 in to the account, however i usually pick up bits and pieces for the wedding when i am out and about.
the bargain you can find on the e of bay and internet websites are great.
i think doing this for the past three months has paid off nearly 3 and half grand of the wedding total! and both me and my partner still put money away in our isa's as you never know what emergencys will come up like car tax mot insurance or something goign wrong with car! etc
i also make a list to what food i buy (the bill is defo less then half from when his home) so i am a lot that way
then whatever is left in our bank accounts at end of month i pay off more money on wedding car or the venue or photographer or photobooth!
and i have a wedding spreadsheet, also its my birthday today so any money i get for my birthday will be put in the wedding fund account, and same with my partners when his birthday comes around. we have also said to people we don t want christmas presents (or if they do want to give us presents like our parents we have asked for money)

Im trying to put money away. My h2b doesnt work so all his money goes on his bills and well all my money goes on bills! I do pick up bits and pieces of the bay of e all the time for the wedding. We still have two years to go and my h2bs loan and my ring are both paid off by the end of the year so we will have almost 200 extra a month. The hardest thing is paying off the cards!!! Everything that we get on them is stuff we need but as im only working they get used again once they are paid off which is a bummer!!

The only spending cash is a great way of saving money. When me or h2b want anything we get out only what we need, have stoppes getting that little extra just in case cos we just waste it.

I am paying things bit by bit each month as well, so rather than saving it and keeping the money sitting in my account as a temptation, then i pay a sum of money off to one company or another..... I have a standing order of £50 when my child benefit goes in every 4 weeks, and i transfer £100 a month of my wages into a savings account as well, so am saving £150 a month and make it a mission to pay at least £50 extra to a supplier.

Loads of good ideas! I'm lucky that I work for a Building Society and we actually have an account called a wedding saver so we've been saving in that. :0)
Plus I worked my bottom off and got a promotion recently which earned a payrise of about £100 a month which will go straight in the saver. Carbooting and the bay of e is excellent for bargains and selling stuff to raise money.
We've also got one of those jars that you have to smash to get the money out and have been putting £2 coins in. It can be hard going to miss out on nights out etc but it'll all be worth it in the end!
