We live in Hampshire ( village on the outskirts of Fleet ), but we're getting married in Lincolnshire, where my family are from & where I was born & grew up. SIL2B got Married in Yately a few weeks ago, was excellent.

AWWWW my nan was from Andover .... spent lots of time there
Hi, I'm not technically (well, at all!) from Hampshire, but my fiance and I plan on getting married in Hampshire in July of this year. (He IS from Hampshire.) The wedding ceremony itself will be very small, and will take place in a Register Office, but I think we have that under control! We would like some help/advice for our reception though if anyone can offer any ideas! The reception will also be quite small, probably around thirty guests, and we would like something very relaxed, with a kind of garden party/picnic atmosphere. We are looking at booking one of the small fields at Queen Elizabeth Park, hiring a marquee, some tables and chairs, and a sound system, and doing our own catering. Can anyone who has done anything similar offer any advice? Is there something major we're overlooking?!?
Just to make things a little bit more difficult, I'm currently in New Zealand, waiting for my application for a fiancee visa to be processed . . . So if anyone can offer any advice that I can pass on to my slightly stressed fiance, I would be VERY grateful! Are there any specific threads on the forums I should be looking at?
Thank you!

There's a thread called Bride's Checklist (or something) I'll bump it for you :) Sounds lovely - marquee weddings always look beautiful :) Xx

I know it well! There's a drive-thru KFC down there now (which obviously I shall avoid like the plague in order to look fabulous on my wedding day! Hahaha).
I love that your wedding theme is Alice In Wonderland. One of my favourite children's stories ever. Not long for you now!

3 weeks tomorrow :-D very excited and just want it to be here already but still have a few loose ends to tie up. I love Alice in Wonderland. Keeping it elegant though not toonish.
I use to live right at the entrance for the MOD Defence Munitions. My Dad use to be based there until he moved to Bristol. Haven't lived in Gosport since I was 7 but go down every year to see friends :) scary how much the place has changed over the decades.

Don't live there, But spent every holiday at Hayling Island from when I was a couple of days old till I was 16, two years ago went for a few days and the place is now so built up! The caravan site we had our caravan has been taken over by a large company and is not the same, Buildings been demolished by the sea front and flats put up. I now live in Spain but work in the UK x
CommentAuthorMrsC2B
It is becoming very built up. Having said that, the only things left in Gosport now are places to eat and charity shops! Bit of a dead end town. Hence why I'm not getting married in Gosport xx

Lived on the Isle of Wight for many years, all of them apart from the seven years we lived in fareham before coming back here

Yep yep :) I loved the buildings in the shorefront and there was a lot of shops I just wanted to stay in.
I actually have a branch of biological family that live in IOW who I've never met in person. My Dad was adopted and I know he has a sister there and maybe a few other siblings but he was never interested in connecting with them.

It's surprising how many peeps have never been to the iow, especially when they only live over the water. When I got married, one of my guests from uni had never been.
