I do bleach my hair, and i have done for the last 7 years, but i dont use any straightners on it, just blow dry it, i use john frieda shampoo and condition, loreal hair mask/treatment every 2 weeks, heat protection everytime i blow dry.
please help!!!! does anyone have any tips/ advice for me? x

You aren't going to like this answer, but the speed your hair grows is largely determined by genetics. That said a diet rich in biotin, iron, protein, & vitamin d will make your hair stronger and less likely to fall out. Two factors necessary for long healthy hair. Bleaching weakens hair and makes it more likely to break, breakage will make it seem like its growing slowly. Could you ease up on the bleaching, the stronger your hair is the longer it'll grow.

It's a nightmare isn't it! I'm growing mine too! It's taken 2 years to get it just past my shoulders.
I don't think anything makes it grow faster though!

Myabe book a hair appointment at a good salon and see what they say?
Are you a natural blonde? How about highlights or Sun in?

I've no idea. Mine grows quite quickly. I have never coloured it and 9 times out of ten i let it dry naturally. I jsut use tresemme moisture something or other. Nothing special but it does make my hair lovely and soft. May change my mind on colouring though as I've noticed I've lots more grey hairs that are getting more and more difficult to hide lol x

I agree with 'Weemindy' i swear every time i get my hair cut it grows twice as fast! You don't need much off, just a trim and i think that'll do the trick :-) x

Samantha has said what i was going to I always find just having the ends trimmed on mine makes it grow so much fater and like others would cut down on blecheing and speak to a good replicable salon and see if they can suggst anything but i would have it trimmed as often as possible x

Hi, I'm trying to grow my hair too and thicken it up as don't think it will look right in an updo how I would like it. My hairdresser recommended skin, hair and nails tablets, which I have just bought from asda 3 days ao so not sure how they are working yet. I've just bought John freida shampoo, conditioner and mask the full recovery one and hair feels so much better already as in it's not snapping as much as it used to, but again only used it once. My mum recently lost her hair due to cancer and is growing back now, she started using lee Stafford mirical hair growth shampoo, conditioner and treatment about 6 weeks ago and her hair is loads thicker and growing really fast, so maybe that could be worth a try x

Failing that you can get some lovely hair pieces for about £30, that's what I'm going to do if my hair doesn't get any better x

I'm a hairdresser who has every style going, this time last year i had dark brown hair and the Frankie haircut (Frankie from the Saturdays) now i've got bleach blonde hair past my shoulders.having a trim every 4 to 6 weeks really does help the hair grow as its cutting all the dead ends!! bleach doesn't help...maybe try having the cap done with using xxx live or using a real light blonde in the 0 shades as that will help your hair. even though my hair is very blonde i don't use bleach and once before all underneath fell out from using bleach all the time. how often do u bleach it and do u put it all over at once? x

Get it cut every 6-8 weeks; it keeps it healthy, gets rid of split ends, and should promote growth.
Use a good conditioner every time you wash, and try to wash every other day rather than every day.
Use a hair mask once every 5 days; once every 2 weeks isn't enough.
Try to avoid combing or brushing wet hair; towel dry, then comb with a large detangling comb.
Similarly, leave hair to mainly dry naturally before finishing with a blow-drier; and try to limit the blow-drying.
Invest in a decent oil, like Amargen oil (£30 for 100ml; should last around 3 months with daily use) or Moroccan oil (I use Amargen oil and get it from my hairdresser; they have a website where you can buy it from).
If you really must bleach it, try to go less often. I'm very dark blonde with some light brown naturally, but have light blonde foils done. I only need mine doing every 4-6 months because my hairdresser does it so well; if it was bleached one colour, I'd need to re-touch the roots every month. Point being, if you currently have an all-over colour, think about having foils: you will still get a light blonde look, but you shouldn't need it doing so often, and won't damage the hair as much.

I agree with everything barbie86 has written, also I heard coconut oil is good for getting hair to grow though I haven't come across any - yet!

cutting your hair encourages it to grow, my hair used to be really short, now its half way down my back, you need to get it trimmed regularly to take all the dead ends of and encourage it to grow, its just like body hair the more often you shave the faster it grows back. bleaching it will prevent it from growing aswel as you are basically killing your hair. another option for you would be to get extentions, my cousin bleaches her hair regularly and she only has short hair and has really good extentions they look so real x

This sounds minging but it till help to stop any snapping and give you healthier hair, scoop out an avacado put it in a blender with a few table spoons of olive oil and sleep with it on your hair, try not to get it on the roots but the next morning when you wash it out your hair will be all soft and lovely and healthy! x

Thanks for everyones advice, i have decided to have my hair cut every 4 weeks now just a little bit to see if this helps!
kellyB60- I bleach just the roots every 8 weeks and have it cut at the same time, now i will be having it cut every 4 weeks. Barbie- I bleach JUST the roots all over. Thanks for the tip about the Armagen oil! i will also start using the hair mask more regularly, also do you know if i need to use conditioner after because it only says to apply after shampoo, it doesnt say anything about the conditioner!? charlotteb32 - Mine is just coming to the top of my shoulders now it is so so so annoying, and the thing is once i have grown it i will probably end up cutting all off 6 months later haha:-) Tatty - I'm willing to try anything! xxx

Hair grows about 6 inches a year Maybe a little more or a little less depending on genetics, you could try massaging your scalp to increase the circulation it helps the follicle secrete oil and push out the hair, but you'll be lucky to get an extra half inch out of doing that every night for a year!
Getting hair cut and taking vitamins only impact on hair health, not hair growth.
There's not really anything you can do, it'll grow as fast as it grows. You can expect to gain another 3 inches in length there abouts by the time your wedding rolls around.

If it's a conditioning hair mask, just use instead of conditioner.
Another tip which I forgot, but I do this all the time: when you use your regular conditioner, use plenty of it (I use LOADS; think a couple of table-spoons full), smooth it through, paying particular attention to the ends, and leave it in for a couple of minutes before rinsing. I find this leaves my hair softer and less prone to breaking, and also makes it much easier to comb out, again reducing breaking :-)

Definitely get a trim every few weeks as it won't grow the same with split ends.

I seem to have the same problem and its so frustrating! I went into Holland & Barrett and they recommended taking silica complex which is for hair, skin and nails :) been using for a few weeks now so too soon to see results but fingers crossed xx

I'm growing mine too but my hairdresser who is also mybest friend only cuts every 6-8 weeks and depends on the condition. If it isn't growing a lot the cutting it every 4 weeks is just cutting the growth off so stay same length bud get thicker. I recommended you speak to your hairdresser and see what they say but mine recommends 8 weeks if growing it xxx
