I've been looking at hair ideas - bit early I know but I'm currently growing my hair and want to know what I'm aiming at. The pic in my profile was taken last November and I would say my hair is now about level with my jaw line.
I've put some pics of what I'm thinking on my wall, question is will it be long enough by then and does anyone have any tips for making/helping it grow faster? Has anyone tried coconut oil on their hair as a pre-wash treatment, read a few good reports on this being some help for growth but wondered if anyone has experience of this?
thanks everyone

I'm growing my hair too, Its currently at my jawline and I'm aiming for just below the shoulders. Hairdresser said to have regular trims, and to tie back as much as possible. Fingers crossed for gorgeous wedding do's xxxx

I started growing my bob out last January and now just under my shoulders so slowly getting there.... its so frustrating and im impatient. My advise would be regular trim it but my hairdresser recomends every 3 months not 6 weeks otherwise you are constantly cutting the growth off. I think you can get some herbal tablets to promote hair growth but i dont know how successful they are?! xxx

I started growing my graduated bob out two years ago and it is now at bust level. Make sure you have it trimmed every 10 to 12 weeks as it will keep it in great condition x
May the dreams of your past be the reality of your future!
I've read hair grows at 1cm a month but will grown slightly quicker if u get regular trims x

thanks guys, my hairdresser has said already to reduce the number of trims from 6 weekly to 10 weekly so have already been doing that since maybe September.
Fingers crossed for it being long enough! if not extensions will be my friend!

for a start - your hairs are already dead cells, so not matter how much you cut it, this will NOT make it grow any quicker - obviously, quite the opposite!! Having trims will of course keep the ends looking neat, and OF COURSE your hairdresser is going to recommend how often you go (and give them money!!) and get it trimmed. My hair is down past my bra back strap line, and I only get it trimmed every 6 months or so, when the ends are looking uneven. The best thing I do for my hair is I hardly ever use heat on it - heat frazzles it and thus increases the frequency of trims you need to keep the ends looking tidy.
But don't get caught up thinking you should have long hair just for your wedding, short styles totally rock too!! :-)

I take sea kelp 3 times a day and my hair has started to get really long now!! This time last year I pretty much had a shoulder length bob. I also use Aussie leave in conditioner which works wonders!! :) xxx

Hair on average grows about half an inch per month, however this depends on genetics and diet. x

Why us hairdresser say still get trim is because of spilt ends it you don't keep having the dead ends cut of the spilt ends trevel up you hair and then you have to more cut of to get rid of the spilt ends I would never tell anyone they need to come in just to make money. Look after your hair nice hair masks, don't use heat tools on it to much and don't over colour your hair, I had really short hair and started growing it back in may it now between ears and jawline I still have it cut every 6 weeks and coloured hair back to it normal colour from purple and colour about every 2 months now just to refresh it up.

I had an inverted bob with the back of my hair just at the lower hair line. It was at my shoulders after a year. They reckon hair grows 6 inches in a year.
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a

It depends on your hair and how well you look after it. Mine has took about 3 years to grow from short short, to pretty long xx

Ooh will try the sea kelp and gonna give coconut oil a try too. I currently dye it red so next time will go back to brown and let it grow out.

try eating more avocado... weidly i find my hair grows like mad when its salad season and i get my diet sorted and eat healthier! could me more the general intake of vitamins but i swear its something in the avocado that boosts hair and nail growth! good luck

Hair grows at around half inch every month - depending on diet and how you are in general - what i mean by that is that everyone is different but it grows about half inch every month on average :) x
CommentAuthorCat
well from experience of having about 2+ feet of hair (just below the elbow) and previously dyed it, it took about 2 years to grow the dye fully out so about 1 foot a year

I started growing my bob out about 3 years ago! the first year it grew pretty quickly but the last 2 years it's been at a total stale mate but I think that's due to me not taking proper care of it (not being able to afford regular cuts - over bleaching it etc) am hoping to get it lovely and long for wedding cos I don't wana fork out for extentions :( it's shoulder length at the moment but i'd like it around 4 - 5 inches longer xx
CommentAuthorVelcro
im growing mine out as well, as i cant decide whether i want it long or short for the day. Mine grows really fast - so it does just depend on how quickly you would say yours grows. Im hoping mine will be almost bra strap length by then, but i may be being abit optimistic...
Last time i went for a cut, i couldnt dcide what i wanted done with it, so i just had it shoulder length, which i regretted as i either wanted it short, or just trimmed lol. So now Im leaving it while i make my bloody mind up.

Ha I'm growing my graduated bob out too, I've kept the front jaw length so the back has caught up but mine is growing really slow lol normally it's half an inch per month on average so I reckon in 19 months you'll have a lovely length. I'm just gonna get my extensions put back in I reckon lol
CommentAuthorSonya
that's what my hairdresser has been having me do since about August but mine was almost a pixie cut when I decided to grow it. my hairedresser always comments on how fast it grows so hopefully it will be long enough - and then I'll go and have it all tied up in a loose bun for the day!!

itdoes depend on you .......can i say one thing , anyone who says having it cut makes it grow quicker is talking rubbish the only part of you hair that is living is below the scalp so how can cutting dead hair make it grow lol ..
one thing that helped the condition of my hair was a protein spray
Massaging moroccan /argon oil into your once once you have blow dried has taken my hair from being from my shoulders to my bum in 5 months... Unfortunately I went for a trim the other day and the new girl cut inches off! I was in tears, I will only be getting my hair thinned until my big day as my hair is so thick, Massaging your scalp makes your hair grow quicker, same as receiving a manicure makes your nails grow quicker :)

Hair dresser told me it grows between 4-6 inches a year x
CommentAuthorSonya
Lala - my hairdresser hasn't told me getting it cut makes it grow, quite the opposite, he said to leave it as long as possible between cuts as I don't want to keep cutting the new length off but he did say to not leave it longer than 12 weeks as splint ends can split the hair quite far up and then it could snap off anyway undoing any growing done
Fingers crossed for long flowing locks in 19 months!
I have been usingba moroccan oil, I wonder if that's why it seems to be growing well?
