We went and had a look at Thornton Manor today, their lakeside marquee and oh dear LORD it is beautiful, soooo pretty and EXACTLY what I want...BUT, just the marquee alone is £7500, then with the dancefloor, dj, lighting and catering on top, it will fast approach more like £12 000 :S with our other venue choice I had the budget down to about £7000 for the whole shebang!

So gutted now and see no way we can afford this place, just made me proper sad :/ maybe I should have put this under rants lol

Aww I know the feeling! I went to see a gorgeous venue - it was an old Tudor barn, with a moat, beautiful gardens, just gorgeous. Completely fell in love and thought we could afford it. Got home, worked out the costs and it took about 90% of our budget. Absolutely gutted, I was almost in tears! I then realised, never look at venues without working out if we can afford it beforehand! Definitely saved us a lot of heartache!!

I'm sure you will find an absolutely stunning venue within your budget :-)

we were going to go there but given the price we decided on nope. We ended up going for crewe hall as it is full of features and is amazing inside. Veru lush victorian architecture in the old house which is where you will be having the wedding. We looked at loads of places and for 50 day and 80 eve guests we received quotes of 4300 (craxton wood) up to 9700 (peckforton) with crewe coming in at just over 6k. If you are looking in that area, craxton wood is not as impressive as thornton manor but very cheap. We received a quote of 7k for the grosvenor pulford which again is popular and nice but not on the scale of crewe hall and thornton manor. I think 12k for that, versus what we got for crewe is not worth double the money hun x There is also saughton hall that was quoting arouhnd 5500 to 6k and that is lovelly. its an old fashioned manor house with lush gardens. Only prob with them is you have to use their florist and they charge for tap water, still cheaper than thornton manor tho x

Aww hun, there's a place I wouldve gone to, and had asked for a quote beforehand only to find out that the starting price was 10k before any of the add ons. We didnt view it but we're over the moon with the place we booked - it's beautiful, has sentimental value - for me anyway because I grew up there and I used to work there - and it's much cheaper while still having the wow factor xx

We are going to go for our other choice, Didsbury Park, it's absolutely lovely, and WAAAAY cheaper at £2000 for exclusive hire. The only cr@p thing is that they don't do outside ceremonies, and if it rains, we're stuck inside as they don't have a marquee or anything. So here's hoping the weather is nice so I can have my dream outdoors wedding!! x
