I phoned the hospital again today, and it is thyroid problems Evie has. One set of bloods came back normal the other was high. It should be 3.5 and under she said and Evies is at 5.6 So although shes concerened shes not too worried. She said that when we get our outpatients appointment through we will know more, they will give us treatment plan etc however my poor darling girl will have to have another blood test to see if the difference is much in the time between the origional test and going back. I dont know how I can put her through it again I'm crying just thinking about it!

Oh no :( I had everything crossed for you that it was going to come back all clear and she would be fine! I know it is a horrible thought that she has to have more blood taken, but if it means they will be able to help her in the long run then it is worth it. Is there anyone who can come with you to support you? xxx

So sorry to hear you've had this, I know it's upsetting but keep focussed on the fact that what ever they are doing test wise their doing it for the best. I know it's hard but you must keep think on the positive side. Big hugs. xx

At least once they find out exactly what is wrong they can start to fix it. It must be really hard though, no one wants to see someone they care about in pain - lets hope all the tests are done soon :(

Thans Krissy, I guess I'll have to hold out hope that she'll get used to it? I'm trying to find a drs kit/ dressing up stuff for her and some books about going to hospital to see if they will help however I need them to be cheapish as I havent got much spare atm. What was her symptoms? and how are they treating her? I havent been told much other than I need to wait for the outpatients! x

to be honest kempy shes never really had symptoms becasuse she was prem it was picked up very early as she was having bloods done daily anyway. so shes been on her meds since a few weeks old she is under weight for her age but then shes prem all my girls are and she does get tired easiy but she also as other medical problems to account for that to. she takes 65 microgrmmes of levothyroxine every day its best given in the morning before food they do have more regualar blood test as children as there weight changes more often so the meidcation needs to change to reflect that hannah came home from hospital at 16wks old and was on 25mg her medication asn't changed in about 2 years now though so her bloods are now every 6 months and have to be done at the childrens out patients or on the childrens ward at our local hospital. I'm sure once your get her appointment through they will explain every more clearly.

The best way i have found to deal with the blood tests is just to get it done as quick as posissbale the hospitals usually have a doctor doing the bloods and a nurse that helps you hold her and keeps her distracted but to be honest it doesn't really work i usually take a few sweets for after wards and the hospital give her a sticker. theres always lots of screaming and crying and i feel like the worest mum in the world for half the day but you just have to look at as this is what they need and they do tend to forget about it a lot quicker then you do xxx

Aww hun, im sorry it isnt the news you were hoping for... poor lil one :( sending hugs your way... must be horrible for her but at the end of the day you have to focus on the 'positives' that come from this... this will allow the treatment and medication she needs to make her feel better...xx

Thanks Krissy, I know it has to be done so will do it. Its just really hard as I'm sure you know, My Evie isnt underweight infact she hasnt lost any really! I think its the waiting getting to me now I want it to be over with.

Louait, The thing is hun they wouldnt have caught it if I hadnt put my foot down and took her the childrens, they just kept telling us it was nothing and we as being over protective! But as soon as we get medication we will be keeping on top of it all. Thans hun xx
