    Hi ladies :o)

We've had our pre-wedding shoot today so I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to have a go at my make-up for the big day. I'm not a big make-up wearer, in fact I don't wear any at all on a day-to-day basis, apart from when I'm going out and really need to make an effort!
So, bearing that in mind I wanted a natural look for the big day, so I've done what I usually do for an evening out but I've used better quality stuff than I usually do and lighter eyeshadow. I'm not sure if its special enough though or whether I need to do something a bit different? Adam likes it, but I'm not 100% convinced.
Can I ask what you all think? I've put the photos in my albums- the first one is me with no slap on at all so you can compare!

    Thanks girls xxxx

    hi hun
ive just had a look and it looks nice, all i would say is that your eyes lack some definition, you need some mascara and eyeliner or a slightly darker shade of eyeshadow.
I know you want a natural look but you still need to highlight the eye area.
Your foundation and lip look fab and it looks really well applied. ]
have a bit more of a play with your eyes adding it a bit at a time and taking pictures so you can see when you get it how you want.

    good luck xxx

i have got mascara on would you believe?! I wear contact lenses though so I can't put much on as it makes my eyes itch :o( I'll try a bit more eyeliner next time I think, I usually do but didn't know whether it would be appropriate to have it darker for your wedding?

What mascara is it sara? I usually use the pink one from miss sporty (its not waterproof though, I'm hunting for waterproof) and it's fine with my lenses.

I think it's really nice and natural but agree with everyone else that the eyes could do with a little more definition, need a darker eyeshadow, eyeliner and heavier mascara (or try fake lashes, they do wonders!). I love the base and lips xx

Try using a brown or grey eyeliner for a softer look, with you colouring it will be a better choice. A touch more mascara is needed, and possibly a bit of light brown eyeshadow powder on the eyebrows (brush it on, then brush it off) to give definition. Other than that, you've done a really good job!

looks really pretty hun but i agree you need to make the eyes a little more dramatic, remember you are going to be photographed all day and night by people and you want it to last x

thanks ladies, I'll have a go at some of your suggestions.
OWB i'm having my eyebrows tinted the day before because I can't find a colour that goes for me to do it myself.
cupcake_katie - Its not the particular mascara thats the problem, just that I don't wear my lenses a lot anyway, nor do I wear mascara very often so they just feel a bit itchy no matter which I use. I'm used to it though, besides I hate having my eyelashes caked in mascara - its uncomfortable and I don't like the look anyway.

I don't think you need a darker eye shadow, the shade of that one is fine.

What you could do with is a lighter shadow to go with it. If you put a light beige or cream or something like that in the inner third of your eyelid and blend it out into the darker colour it'll look much more defined. Also adding the lighter colour under your brow should pull it together a bit more and define your eyebrows better. I can't see in the pics easily but I'd also recommend bringing the brown shadow down around your lower lash line about a third of the way along(if you haven't).

I'd say what you could do is put black liner on the waterline of your top lashes, but if mascara bothers your eyes due to contacts then putting liner there is probably going to be really uncomfortable.

I'd avoid putting black liner on your top lash line though because you don't have a lot of lid space and then any eye shadow you put on will just disappear when your eyes are open. (I don't have much lid space either and it's a massive pain)

    Hopefully that helped some!

(posted a pic in my albums of how a very similar thing I'm trying to describe looks on me)*

I would possibly try false eyelashes if you struggle with mascara, you can get so many different types these days it would really help your eyes stand out.

It looks great though, you have naturally good skin!

i wear contacts everyday and the best way i have found to do my mascara is to wipe the mascara brush on a babywipe or tissue to remove some of the mascara then apply it let it dry for a minute or so they apply another thin layer it stops it going on to thick and looked like its caked on.

I agree your eyes need definition. If your worried about using a dark liner why not try a white one out. This usually makes eyes look brighter as well as defined. Also i would use a lighter shade just under your brow to bring it all together, i dont think you need a darker shade of eyeshadow myself. Have a play around hun, good luck xx

It looks very natural but one tip I picked up on a tv show about weddings in Greece was when brides do their own makeup they under do it because they want to look natural but it barely shows up on the photos and they dont look as if their wearing any at all, so maybe like the other ladies have said have a little more definition around your eyes.

Yeah actually as a photographer I can tell you that you need to be wearing more than you would for a night out, even to look natural. The white of a wedding dress acts like a big light umbrella for your face, and this can make light go right through the makeup making it look like you don't have any on.

I also used to do some modelling a few years back and the makeup artists would put on lots of makeup so we looked right in the camera lights... Think of stage makeup, it needs to be slightly more toned down than that but minimal makeup will vanish on camera x
