H2b and I went to a Wedding Fair today, just so we could pay our deposit to our videographer/photographer. As soon as we got there I fell in love with the venue from the outside the grounds around it were lovely. But the problem being we've already booked & paid a deposit on another venue. I said to h2b if I like it as much inside then i'm going to change the venue. The wedding planner was lovely and went around and showed us everything. It was really nice, and by the time we left I was seriously thinking about loosing our deposit on our other venue and re-booking.
Luckily h2b decided we'd got to weigh up all the pro's & con's, the pro's being that the venue that we have already booked is a lot cheaper & we are getting a lot more at our venue that the new venue were not willing to throw in. And too be honest if the weather is bad we won't get to use the grounds to the full potential so it would be a waste of time anyway. Eventually h2b convinced me that we had already booked the right place and made the right decision. This is why I love him x I was wondering if any1 else has had this problem and had a wobble about things you've already booked. It frightened the life out of me to be honest LOL x

Really funny that you've posted this - I was completely decided on the venue I wanted, was going to visit it in Ireland in March and pay deposit in Summer when had saved up, and then this weekend with parents visiting and chatting between the four of us about venue possibilities am suddenly wavering! everyone has pointed out to me that it's not the prettiest looking place from outside - it hadn't really bothered me before but now I'm starting to think oh no, what will the guests say as they drive up?! Completely silly to panic as haven't even paid anything yet but is amazing how those wobbles occur!

I have also cancelled one venue, and been back & forward on lots of choices. Think it's completely normal!

I'm hoping we'll be the same Suzky and the inside will make people forget about the boring grey stone outside!!

Thats the trouble, you have to book so far in advance to get the date you want on these places, there is always a chance that you change your mind in the planning process..... it's a shame really :( good job you have your H2B J ;)xx

I had a few venues to choose from aswell, then I had the same problem with my dress as I had 3 I liked but hadn't been to see them or tried the dresses on. When we finally looked around the venues and saw the entire place from the kitchens to the bridal suite my heart knew which 1 it was to be and the same thing happened with my dress. I tried on the 1 that I thought I was in love with but it made me look like a flump as it was strapless made my arms chunkified, after 3 days of wedding dress shopping I walked into an old looking boudoir type wedding shop only to fall in love with the dress that was on the mannequin (over my budget of course) the lady in the shop insisted I try it on which made me have a tear in my eye when I told her it was £300 over my budget she went into another room with a colleague and asked me if I had the money to buy it then and take it home. Within a heart beat I had the dress. Always go with ur 1st instinct coz that is the right one
Madhen is the inside of the venue lovely and just as you expect? You and your guests only spend about 30mins outside for the photo's and who's to say when it's spring/summer the outside won't look lovely with the flowers if there are any in the grounds at full bloom

The problem with our first venue was that the inside was a bit dull - the outside was really pretty, lovely gardens etc but i kept thinking, if it rains our pics will be really rubbish so we went for somewhere pretty on the inside too :)

Joci yes, inside is gorgeous and banquet hall is stunning, so that should wipe any doubts from their minds I hope! Can't rely on garden alas as September (or possibly October, we're thinking of postponing a week or so to go into "off-peak" season) wedding so minimal time out in the cold, unless we're lucky and get Indian summer! There are one or two pics of it in my albums, it's called Markree Castle :)

I am more concerned about my dress than the venue, I keep falling in and out of love with it but at least with the venue I get excited every time I get the opportunity to go. Went today and took a friend and she even prefers the rooms we have to ALL of the other rooms as I was questionning that too but I think overall, I am happy. I dont think I wouldb change anything. Its all this time on our hands it makes us doubt it but then if you sit down and think about it, you will realise you have made the right decision

Thank you :) :) Yes exactly!! Classic case of grass is always greener! Will stick with it - is by fair the best deal we've found online for similar venues that can take enough people so boring grey stone walls or no, it might just have to do...
