I picked up H2B's ring today.. another thing ticked off.

has anyone got one of those sonic cleaner dooberies to clean jewellery - they had one in the shop for £20 - that's what they use then polish it with a polisher's cloth. Am tempted to buy one as most of my jewellery (mine and inherited) hasn't been cleaned in an age. I have cleaned my ring by dropping it in vodka (which made the diamonds very very sparkly) but it doesn't polish the gold obviously.

I just use washing up liquid and a babies toothbrush for mine. You leave it to soak overnight and use the soft toothbrush the get in all the little nooks! It always works and leaves everthing lovely and shiney. It also does wonders for the gold, i have had it 2 year and it is only just looking like it MIGHT need to be re-dipped, so not too harsh!

Glitterfairy - PLEASE DON'T USE TOOTHPASTE!

Its probably one of the worst things you could use as the flouride will attack the metal in your ring - especially if its white gold.

The best thing is to use warm water in a cup or mug with a couple of drops of washing up liquid and a couple of drops of household amonia (read the instructions on the container about using it). If you're doing this over your sink make sure you put the plug in so the ring can't go down the plughole!

Leave the ring in there for a few minutes and then gently brush it using a soft toothbrush. The pat it dry and leave it on a cloth for a few minutes.

Once its dry polish using a soft cloth or a jewellery polishing cloth.

    Hope that helps!

    (but PLEASE don't use toothpaste)
