Hi girls sorry in advance for the rant , my h2b's cousin just phoned me to say she has bought her dress for our wedding and that it is WHITE !!! Why oh why would she do that i am furious,she knows my dress is ivory and i was led to believe only the bride should wear white on her big day if that is the wedding dress she has chosen could i please have your opinions xxxx

I wouldnt like that at all. Does it sound like shes flaunting the fact that its white or does she not understand the "white" rule? If it was me I would drop a few comments like "The other guests may see you as a bit selfish for wearing white as everyone knows its only the bride who wears white on day" she may change her mind. xxx

I'd say its very selfish of ANYONE to wear white to a wedding unless they have been asked via a dresscode. maybe speak to her nicely and see if she'll take it back for an exchange?

Do you know for sure that it is white? I dont know the woman but maybe just maybe she could be winding you up? Would she be the type to play a joke on you? No it wasn't a joke she called me for aother reason and then called back to say she forgot to say she'd bought her dress for the wedding it is a white lace mini dress with long chiffon sleeves she got it today and said she'll send me a picture once she has tried it on tomorrow!!! I was BM last year and some one turned up in a short white dress... they also appeared to be wearing no nickers too.. most people just stood and laughed at her... not quite sure if it was just the fact she had no draws on or she looked stupid in the wedding party...

I've got a friend (hmmmmmmmm) that told me she was looking at a cream dress for my wedding. I'm wearing ivory but I don't like to make a fuss so said nothing, just ranted to my Mum about it later on. My Mum then dropped a "story" into conversation with my friend about someone being selfish enough to turn up at a wedding in white or cream and my friend went bright red. Hopefully she took the hint. :)

sounds like shes just attention seeking. does she have a habit of doing this????? i would ask her politely not to wear white and if that doesnt work go round and sabotage her dress (accidently getting foundation or lipstick on it). she should know better and if she denies it shes obviously lying. if you still have no luck changing her mind exclude her from the photos. it'll teach her a lesson :)

If its plain white dress then i think that may be a little tacky for her but if its patterned and has other colours then its fine, maybe she can accent it wearing other colours???
My MIL is looking at cream trousers or skirt and wearing gold top, at first I thought it would be weird considering the wedding colours are red white and silver. but I dont mind any more, whatever she's comfy and happy in will do me and the same goes to the rest of the guests. :)

I think if its a white dress but with a, say, red coat and bag, accessories etc you might not notice? I don't know xxx

oh god i know what you mean. we bought my mum a lovely hat them she told me what kind of dress shes going to look for and she said white, i was like what. you cant wear white. im probably going to wear white. they she went on about it will probably be ivory. Theres not that much of a difference between the two. I wasnt happy but i know my mum and she'll do what she wants. even though im still going to try and change her mind. Even thought about making her part of my bridal party lol.

I nearly got a plain white dress for a wedding I was at in summer as I couldn't find anything I liked at all. I decided against it as I didn't want folk talking about the fact I would be in white, even though I would have worn colourful shoes and jewllery I knew I would of felt awkward.
Instead I opted for a white dress with a floral print :-)
The only thing I would say that if it's a mini dress with big sleeves everyone will know she's not the bride, and she will be the one feeling uncomfortable. xx

Im debating weather or not to tell ppl a dress code??? They can wear any colour............ EXCEPT red (of any shade) black and white/ivory as thats the wedding parties colours.
