We had our pre-wedding shoot last Thursday and the photographer sent our photos through on Friday.

My H2B hates them all and they have made them feel really down about himself and his weight. He's really annoyed that he hasn't been to the gym more and with only 4 weeks to go I think he's starting to really panic. I know we can be really critical of ourselves but I don't think he looks overweight at all, especially when he's 6'2 and quite built. I really can't think of anything I can do to help him and feel a bit useless! Any suggestions? :-(

I'm sorry to hear that - usually pre wedding shoots help with making the bride and groom feel more body confident in front of the camera!

Just lots of reassurance - also, most suits are very flattering on larger built blokes (our best man is an ex rugby player and although naturally big, he's also but on a bit of weight in the past couple of years - but he looks about two sizes slimmer in his suit!)

    Xx

He's the same - an ex rugby player that has put a bit of weight on. I keep telling him that just because he's a little bit bigger than what he's used to, doesn't make him fat! And he looks lovely and slim in his suit (which he had to buy in a size smaller than what he expected!!)

Hopefully he'll start to feel better about himself soon - and I'll carry on with the reassurance in the meantime! :-)

Hey, my H2B isthe same, however he's been like this since I met him...

When he was on Initial Officer Training, he broke and mashed his ankle and it put him out of action for about 2 years... through extensive reconditioning and rehab, he got fit enough to carry on with the course and slimmed down too... but he was working out for his job - his job was to get better so 8 hours a day of exercise!

Since then hes qualified as a pilot and been operational - on multi engine aircraft, so long days sat around on your bum drinking sugary tea and coffee to stay alert...

After landing, he's been absolutely wiped, not done much exercise etc. Anyway, he's now aware he's stacked on a lot of weight from poor eating and lack of proper exercise regime. So he's getting quite upset about it.

I'm always wary of my weight and so I have just hired a PT and suggested that on his return from hot sandy places, he joins me in the sessions... and we'll do it together.

There's alot you can do in 4 weeks... not so much slimming down wise but certainly about feeling good. If he starts to eat healthily, he will feel better that he is trying and watching portion size means he will lose some weight before the wedding. If he hits it hard for the next 4 weeks, he could lose 1/2 stone. 1000 calories deficit a day so 500 from food and 500 from exercise would mean he could lose 2lbs a week (3500kCal in lb of fat) and so in 4 weeks thats about half a stone! It would show too!

If he ate 2000kCal a day and then exercised for about 45mins - cardio, not walking, so jogging/running/fast cycling, he could easy do it. As he's tall, he probably has a higher calorie allowance but as 2500kCal is an industry average for men, it's a good starting point for him without the specifics.

I recommend him trying a website / app called my fitness pal which is AMAZING and really helped me lose weight quickly, safely and without a fad diet... you can eat any food you like... so long as you don't go over your calorie allowance and lose weight... it helps you set it up correctly for you! I'm on there as RAFValentina if he wants to add me for support!
