I was talking about napkin rings to h2b as I love the ones the lovely miss hails found and he said no! Says its a waste of money and said we don't need them. But I thought they'd look lovely on the table :( even said I'd make em to cut out most costs. I know money is very tight at the moment coz he's on ssp and thinks he'll lose his job n I don't have income so we are really worrying about that but that's why wedding so far away. I'm not after an expensive wedding at all I just want it to be perfect for us but worried we won't have anything :( are napkin rings a good idea? x

Its horrible when someone says no to something you really want I have to be honest though, I have not even considered having them and I too feel they would be a waste of money if the budget is tight x

Yeah, why not, if you can do them cheap...it will give you something to do so that you feel like you are making progress with your wedding, particularly if you are at that stage where you're saving for deposits etc..
Some men don't think you need lots of stuff for a wedding.. I had to convince h2b that we really did need invites!
At the end of the day, hellbe grateful for all the little touches (or at least, your female guests will appreciate them!)

It may be a little touch that adds to your day but at this stage I doubt your H2B is really thinking of those parts. Our friend had lovely pretty organza ribbon for hers that she tied herself. Really cheap and looked great. Worth thinking of if your budget doesn't quite stretch.
I can see where hes coming from i'm not having them too but that's because we're not having a formal meal I think it all depends on the style of wedding reception you're after if you think and feel that you really want them maybe have a go at making one see how much they would cost to make and then mention it to him again. He could change his mind, good luck x

I think I'm at the stage where I can't do anything as too far in advance and can't picture what things will be like. I just thought they'd be a nice touch n not too expensive to make. I'll add two pics of the ones I like to my photos MairiN30 x

Tbh I never even thought about having them - and if you're on a budget, I wouldn't put them as a priority. We weren't on a budget really but didn't have them, chair covers or favours as I just couldn't justify paying our for small things like that.

I made my own and payed out just over £20 I think it was to make 200 of them. That was for the rings, two sizes of pearls and the heart charms. Pictures are in my album if you want a look :) I bought all the bits off the bay of E xxx

They are really cheap and easy to make as I make them and Wine Glass Charms as a hobby... Doesnt cost no more than a couple of £ to buy the stuff off the internet plus making them is really relaxing! How many do you need? Go for it!! It's the little finishing touches that make all the difference xxxx

I bought the actual rings hun. I have 100 guests so they are being used as wine charms and napkin rings for each guest :) xxx

We are looking at about 60 guests for the sit down meal so be 60 wine charms and 60 napkin rings, the napkin rings are bigger than the wine charms so will have to find two different sizes. I think it will be nice and relaxing and I know h2b would help make them as he likes to know how things work lol but just persuading him to start with x

tbh he is prob extremely stressed at the mo ...why not wait till you know what the money situation will be , is there any chance of getting a little job to bring some extra money into the house , might take a bit of pressure off him
i made my own and they cost me £1.20 each so if you can put the time into making them you really can save some money

I'm making my own napkin holders, h2b does not even know. He wouldn't be interested lol. I'm sure he will be glad on the day tho. I've already got the material so only costing me for ribbon x x

I've never even considered it and I am having a formal sit down meal.. its a cost we dont need and will it really ruin your day if you cant have napkin holders? lol I wouldnt have sleepless nights about it... your getting married in 3years, thats quite a long time left of planning, so I wouldnt worry about things like napkin holders until nearer the time, and then maybe he'll let you if financially you can xx
