ive been with my H2B for just over two years too.
I really hope the year flies by for you. And in the grand scheme 1 year is not that long.
But just make sure you dont get down, and in a rutt. Keep busy and keep friends and family around. :)

Thanks ladies, just said goodbye and its just awful. We kept stretching it out and both of us were in tears :-( We have planned for internet connection losses and i already know when he wont be contactable, but he has left me a surprise letter that gives a clue to another surprise he has hidden in the flat. Cant open it until Wednesday though, so thats something to look foward to xx
He is staying with his parents tonight as they are driving him to the airport tomorrow. He said it was because he would be embarrassed if i saw it now in front of him. He's a bit of a soppy one bless him so im sure its something really thoughtful and romantic x

I think its fab tbh - I'd love to go traveling round the world but I know I couldnt afford it.
Rich is going for 8 days to America in June and has funded it all by himself and im proud of him - he's sold loads on ebay and worked so hard. In saying that I never go without and he's still paying his way towards everything and the Wedding.
This is in a way a good situation to be in - it will show you just how much you mean to each other :) when he comes back your relationship will be all the more special

well babe i`m with you all the way ...Mr lala has been away since last nov .....
ahhh i feel so sorry for you chick :-( my htb works 2 night shifts every 10 days and i hate them i can never sleep with out him in the house. your really brave ive been with htb 2 and a bit years now and if he turned round and asked to go away for a year id say hell no id never cope the kids would take over and end up locked in the cupboard for 2 years or something i need him way too much. hope the next year flies by for you at least you have your wedding to keep you busy :-) x

I think it's amazing! Well done you! I know a lot of women who wouldn't let there OH's do something like this! I love travelling and have been away from my h2b on numerous occasions because i've wanted to go somewhere that he hasn't - I'm going to Turkey at the end of May with my mum cos he doesn't want to go there - in fact I've got more holidays planned this year without him than I have with!! He knows that i'll miss him and that I love him more than anything, but his hobbies are music and motorbike racing, mine are travel, films and food...2 of which I can do at home - the other I can't. I know it's going to be hard for you, but I think you'll be surprised at how quick you get used to him not being there and chatting online etc. It's great that you'll skype so you'll get to see him too. and we're here when you do want to rant :-) xx

i must admit if hadnt fallen pregnant i would of done what hes doing but i probably would of convinced paul to come with me. i had been travelling for a few months with an ex a tear before i started dating paul and it is an experience. people who just say go on holidays together. its completely different. you actually get to experience proper life in these countries you visit. its not all glam everywhere . its nothing like going on a long holiday. im sure it will fly by and you'll be together again. is he going on his own?

Well if i didnt have a daughter and a degree to finish then i probably would have come with him for some of it, but its his dream really. He has been travelling in Europe before i met him and he wanted to finish off visiting the places he hadnt been to before we got married and settled down. He is travelling with one of his best friends and he will be staying with his sister in South Korea for a month so im sure he will be fine.

Thanks Mrsbarkertobe, yes not too bad. We actually spent until past midnight chatting online which made things a bit easier, and he has created a travel blog on fb so that me and all his friends can see what he is up to. Im sure it will really begin to kick in that he's gone during the week.

i met my h2b in afghanistan last feb and i had already planned to do 4 months traveling and paid for everything. he is in the army and i left the raf last oct so i could do the volunteer projects while i was still young and free. i wasnt planning on meeting anyone as i knew it would be so hard to be away from them for that period of time. but i was so happy when me and my h2b got together but in our first yr i have been away from him for over 5 months!! he proposed while i was in fiji and then again when i got back.
we have seen alot of each other recently as he has been back in the uk on courses and leave but he goes back to germany on sat and i wont see him for 6 weeks. it is hard but the time flies. my time abroad went really quickly and it went quick for him as he kept himself busy. there were times when we argued and things seemed distant but when we were back together again it was amazing. i certainly appreciate him more now.
i think its amazing what you are doing and i think he will love you so much more for not stopping him, if my h2b had tried to stop me i think i would have ended up doing it for him and then may have resented it later in life as i will prob not have got that chance to do it again.

Well i opened my card that he had left me today and inside was a clue to look in the dvd drawer which i did... and inside was a dvd for me. I put it on and it was him telling me how much he loved me, how he'll miss me and that the dvd is for me to put on everytime i miss him or the sound of his voice. Then he had set to some special music some photos of us together and of him... it was so so lovely and the best present he could have made for me!! He even added an outtakes bit!! Spoke to him on skype today which has cheered me up :-) xx

Not too bad thanks Kaya, just been keeping busy... although its helped that he has been able to chat with me through fb the past couple of nights and that we have skyped today. I know it wont always be like that though when he hits some dodgy reception areas so im just making the most of the contact at the moment. The DVD is a godsend and im so glad he made it for me although i cant watch it without getting teary at the moment! xx

Well its my 3rd full day without him and so far its not too bad as we have been able to talk everyday via fb or skype which is easing things a little. Trying not to live my life around the computer though for when he's online otherwise id never leave the house!!

I'll be in your position soon, again!! my h2b has just told me hes probably gonna be going to afghan again next june for 6 months. great way to spend my first yr of married life, wont see him for half of it!! absolutely gutted but just have to think about the money he will get at the end of it. still, would prefer to have him there. internet is a god send!! hope the time is going quickly for you. take care. xx

Well thats the first week done!!! Gone quicker than i thought and we have spoken everyday as he has been on his own too,so not so bad. His friend joins him today in Munich for the rest of the trip so im hoping we will still be able to chat as much... although i have a feeling now he has his friend there they will be pubbing it most nights!!

I am extremely happy!!! He was due back at the end of Jan and is now planning on returning at the end of Nov/start of Dec. Still a while off but at least he will be home for Christmas!! Wooooooooo!! :-) x

Hey Milly... im not too bad thanks. H2b is in Budapest at the moment and we have been able to chat everyday so far on Skype which has been great... days are still dragging but things are getting a little easier so hopefully once the summer hits and i have lots to do the time will fly by! xx
