The Catering for our wedding is done by the venue.

the venue has quite an extensive list of meals for each course, we can only chose one from each course. I would like for there to be an option for my guests but then thats at extra cost - so not really possible.

I have chosen all three courses that I am happy for them to serve, but H2B doesnt like a single one of the options.

To chose from we have:

8 STARTERS + 7 SOUPS
11 mains + 4 Vegiterian options
9 Desserts

I asked him to put a star by the ones he would consider.
all he has written on the list is 'Something less poncy' on the dessert section.

I have chosen:
Starter : Glazed Mozzorella cheese and camarthern ham with rocket and balsamic dressing

Main: Either chicken Breast with Bacon roll, herb and onion farce, bread sauce and roast jus OR Breast of corn fed chicken with onion marmalade mousse and black and pink peppercorn sauce

Pudding: Either Chocolate and orange truffle cake (most likely swapping the orange to Cherry) OR Profiterols with chantilly cream and a dark chocolate sauce.

Its not the best menu but hey its ok no!?

I would love that but my h2b wouldn't lol. I'm going to have a right job on my hands when it comes to him. could you ask the venue to just give him a kids option haha.

my h2b doesn't eat any meat except beef so the starter and main would be out the question with the ham and chicken options. and he doesn't eat dessert so it would just go to waste. Can you ask the venue for a taster session? your h2b might be suprised if he sees it on a plate and it doesn't look so "poncy" lol x

Haha, my h2b would probably say the same - he's a pretty fussy eater too!

Has he looked at all the options and picked out what he would eat? Tell him to remember they often call things by flashy names, when they actually aren't ;p

Rewrite the menu in plain English and see if that helps.

becky - i have to blend pasta sauces too!!!!!

We never have things with chunks in any more which is sad because i like chunks - but cant be bothered to cook two lots of everything.

Good idea to write it in plain english - but he's a huge fan of sea food, and the only sea food on the choice is Salmon, which is ok but he thinks salmon is soooo boring!

We went to a wedding last september and they had sword fish and prawns etc and he loved that - and now he wants something similar!!

my h2b rings teh indian and says no opnions or visable onions!!! am like OH MY GOD lol i ask 4 extar onions me lol onyl veg he eats is carrots ( gotta be over cooked n all goodness gone tho lol) or mushy peas! only fruit is oranges!! and everything blended!!!

I talked to my venue as they are the same as yours in the fact of one set meal for all etc or charge us the earth. The MIL doesn't like anything either but we have found a way around it such as the chicken dinner we are having she is just going to have a plain chicken breast and the veg with non of the sauces and stuffing's etc. Our venue said if its only a couple of people that are having something different then they are willing to sort that out for us. Best thing to do is ask to speak to the chef and see if there is anything he can do for the h2b even if its a steak pie and chips and see if they are willing to do this for one person.

I think your menu sounds lovely too!!! My friend didnt realise she had to make the choice for the meal and sent the full menu out to all the guests for them to choose. When she realised what she had done she emailed everyone and apologised and told everyone what she had chosen....and loads of people replied to complain!!!! Unbelievable!!! If you are having a different meal for your h2b just dont tell anyone else in case other people ask for the same!!!

I read this and thought as above rewrite it in english. E.g starter cheese and ham, cut out the cr ap and see if he's any better with it. If we ever have to pre order a meal I tell him it's chicken pork or beef and he says "beef" etc. If i asked him if he wanted coque au vin, medalion of pork or beef bourgione he'd say no it all sounds cra p!

only things i wont eat is coconut and sprouts n hate horseradish sauce! n marzipan ( wont hav ne on my weddin cake)

lol hahahaha i ahte coconut am gutted cos my mate brought me sum really gud chocs from a gud shop in new york but covered in coconut!
