At the weekend when my folks came to visit we were talking about our favourite songs, h2b said it would be nice that when we sent out the invited to ask every1 to put their fav song on the reply so we can play them in the evening. What do you all think? xxx

Love the idea in theory - although I have some friends with questionnable taste in music!

Hawaii - Booked! Dress - Bought!! Bring on the day!
Asking your guests to request their favourite tracks is a very good idea, this will ensure that the music is to their ears and they are enjoying the sounds, plus makes the DJ's night so much easier!
However you ought to ensure how extensive the DJ's avaialable library is! If you are hiring a professional DJ then this should not pose a problem at all. However there is nothing worse than asking a DJ for a track and not being able to produce it! This is a let down situation for your guests and will leave them with a dissapointed feel on the night! Choosing the correct DJ company is as important as your wedding dress! Choose the wrong one or cheapeast one and it will reuin your night!
What we do on numerous weddings is offer the bride and groom the opportunity to invite guests to write down their requests on a special DR DJ card through out the night and pass their selection to the DJ. requested from the guests on the night and on the spot! hence why it is important to choose a professional company. This is your night, your best celebration in a life time, don't let anyone spoil it for you!

We'll be asking for their favourite love song (to play in the background over dinner) and one song that is guaranteed to get them dancing for the evening do x

I went to a wedding where you had to write down you favourite song, or your wedding song if you were married - that was nice! xx
Can't wait until the 14th July 2012!

Some friends of ours did exactly this last year when they got married. It is indeed an excellent idea, but please be prepared to chase folk up for RSVP's/choices. YOu will definatley get the "oh, it's been sitting on my desk/table for ages, and I haven't got round to it" brigade! When that happens, lots of swearing and hair pulling will ensue!:-)
If you do decide to go down that doute, i would strongly suggest you use an d ipod dock and not have a dj!At least that way you a/ save cahs (no dj) and b/you wont have the logistical nighmare of making sure the dj has the required songs!
