Just as the title says, my h2b called me about 20 minutes ago from work to tell me that he doesn't like any of the colour's I have picked for my wedding, apart from the midnight blue bridesmaid dresses, he's not keen on anything else.

I have changed my mind on colours so many times and he know's I've been worried about them but he has never said anything about it till now and I don't really understand why!

His boss is getting married in June and by the sound's of it they have been talking "weddings" at work

I feel totally gutted and now I don't know what to do. I'm upset because he hasn't told me till now and really upset because obviously I haven't been involving him as much as I should have.

I don't know what to do now :-(

Has he said why he doesn't like the colours? It's not helpful him saying he doesn't like something, if he isn't then going to give you options that he does like. I'm quite happy to make all the decisions about our wedding as i enjoy doing it, I would be upset though if my h2b said he didn't like something i had chosen.

I got a bit cross with him and put the phone down before he really explained, so I'm waiting for him to come home from work so we can talk about it. I've been thinking it through and to be honest, it probably is my fault, I haven't really spoken to him about anything, I've picked everything, made the decisions. If I buy something I just show him and he'll often say "Oh, thats the colours we're having, is it?" .. God I'm awful :-(

thats a real shame. My h2b doesnt want to make any decisions, he just wants me to run my ideas past him and he gets to say yes or no. Well I would suggest just asking him what colours he would like! And if he cant think of an answer dont worry about it too much! Are your plans set in stone? Is there any room for manouvre? If there is it might be nice to change some bits and bobs to fit in with what he fancies? Sorry if thats not heplful! xx

I don't think even he know's what he would prefer. I think he's happy to stick with what we have, he's just not all that happy with it and I think it was more a case of him trying to tell me I'm not getting him involved

You don't sound awful, at all. I have let Dave think he has decided on what trousers he is wearing (his choice looked better on the photos) and the colour of our vintage bus (the one I wanted isn't available). I tell Dave about ideas I have, but to be honest I think he loves the fact that I come on here because i can talk about weddings 24/7. Just tell him that if he wants a say in the decisions, then he should be willing to get involved more. There's nothing stopping him searching for things on the internet etc. It's so easy for a bride to get swept along with the plans, don't let it upset you.

I'm sorry that this has happened. The only thing my h2b wants a say in is the kilts and the fact we are not having any chair covers as he hates them! I thought it was always down to the brides and the grooms just turned up on the day. At the end of the day it's more about the brides anyway and thats what people will be looking at.xx

You could still have the midnight blue with ivory and gold and that would work well and be a compromise. You could have the bridesmaids in the blue and then the boys could have gold on their ties. I'm sure that you can compromise on everything and sort things out between you when he gets home. x x x

I don't know Jill, I have no idea what's come over him! Such a pain in the ass. Although, your all right, blue and gold does look nice together. I have some gold ribbon so just put it up against the bridesmaid dresses and it looks lovely. The amount of time I've spend worrying on colours and he hasn't said a word, as soon as I decide on something, he speaks up. What an arse!! x

My h2b is the same... he's all 'Yes, honey' 'Okay, baby' about whatever I say... until he actually pays attention and then he goes 'Hmm, don't like that.' Then when I try keep him included, he's not bothered!

Now we've agreed that I get to do whatever I want and if he turns up on the day and doesn't like it well that's just tough buttons and he should have listened to me :P

I think he was probably thinking that he would let you have your day then when he got talking to someone else about the wedding he realised that it might not have been what he wanted. I think in one way he is very brave for being able to tell you and that it shows that you have a strong relationship in which he is able to talk to you when there is a problem so try not to take it to heart and look at the positives that have come from it.

I've just found a website which has loads of photo's from a wedding which was midnight blue gold and cream and it looks amazing! She's used midnight blue in the bridesmaid dresses, chair sashes and ribbons around the napkins. Everything else in gold and cream. Looks so elegant!

I'm using gold ivory and aqua but you could just swap the aqua over for blue. I've basically got the men in navy suits with gold ties and the bridesmaids in aqua with gold on their bouquets. For the tables I have ivory favour boxes with aqua ribbon and a gold butterfly on top. I've then got the place cards with a stip of the paper I'm using with ivory ribbon with their name in gold. The table names have the same paper on them with ivory ribbon and gold numbers. The candelabras have ivory flowers and some greenery entwined around them. It really will work for you and if you use the colours together will look very nice indeed.

All of my flowers are ivory with gold ribbon.

I had this problem......i fell in love with bridesmaids dresses but wanted them in burgandy. In the shop they were £160 each but i found a lady on the bay who was selling hers and that she had 3 for £70 in my colour too :-) so i got them and they are perfect............showed h2b and he hates the colour :-(

So i added a colour and now i have red/burgandy, black and ivory with two bm's in the dresses above and two in very similar dresses but in black :-) with my fg in ivory like me :-)
The only other thing in red/burgandy are my flowers and stationary, everything else is black and ivory!

It can work hunni it doesnt have to be everywhere just slight hints of it here and there and it will look GORGEOUS

OK, so far this is what I'm thinking

    Cream and gold wedding invitations
    Midnight blue bridesmaid dresses
Cream table cloths, napkins and chair covers
    Midnight blue chair sashes

Place cards = midnight blue card with gold baby breath and name's written in gold on cream pearlescent paper
Table name and number = midnight blue card, number in gold name in gold and mounted in a gold photo frame
Menu = midnight blue card, menu written in gold on cream pearlescent paper and mounted in a gold photo frame
Favours = Cream box tied with gold ribbon

Navy blue (close as I can get to midnight blue) wooden rose, led on napkin and tied with gold ribbon

Either gold or clear scatter crystals

Table centre pieces are hurricane vases with a pillar candle inside, the candle is ivory but I will use either blue or gold sand. Vase will stand on a mirror'd plate and I'll use gold tea lights in glass candle holders.

I'm thinking of maybe using midnight blue table runners

And then I'll keep my cake the same as before but just have the colours changed.

    What do you think??

Oh and I'm thinking of gold shoes for the bridesmaids

I think it sounds fab. Have it all ready for when the h2b comes home and then ask him what his honest thoughts are and tell him that he speaks now or forever holds his tongue and opinions.

Also if you want some lush ivory/gold shimmer paper I know just the place as it is where I got all mine from and they do the matching card for it too! Dee and dee (I think) have both had it too!
