so iv been trying to figure out a way to get all my guests food choices... I thought id send out a menu card with the invites and on the back is where they can select there chosen food. il will enclose a prepaid envelope so they can send it back but im just not sure if it will work.
Any suggestions?

All our guests got was a choice of meat or vegetarian and to let us know if they have any special dietary requirements i.e. diabetic, allergies ........... we told them what the main course dish was for meat or vege option. I have allergies so as the bride managed to get the venue to do something completely different to all our guests.
It can get complicated if they have choices for all courses.
They just indicated meat, vege plus any medical condition/allergies on their RSVP card.

When I was at my dads wedding he had sent out a menu card with "tick box" selection for different dishes and any dietry requirements. He had quite a few choices on there and apparantly it caused a bit of a head ache for him.
Personally I'm keeping it simple with a carvery and selection of roasted veg and a Veggie stroganoff for the non meat eaters.

We don't get a choice we just choose a set meal from a list, same for everybody, but if we needed to get guests choices I would put it on the RSVP so it's just one thing coming back and there's no chance of getting just one out of the two reply cards needed x

We are not offering a choice either. We asked for dietary requirements and have altered accordingly but everyone will just get what is given and its tough - over the course of the day there is so much variety from canapes to the evening sausage and bacon barms so there will be something for everyone - and I am a very fussy eater.

Ours is a set menu. We just asked about dietary requirements on the RSPVs.

We had choices of 3 starters, 4 mains and 3 desserts as well as drink choices. We made the RSVP cards a little bigger than they'd usually be (A6 size) and had the RSVP info on the front, with a note at the bottom asking them to select their menu choices overleaf, and then the menu choices were on the reverse. It worked really well.

Also to add: we included stamped self-addressed envelopes with the invitations/RSVPs which people seemed to appreciate.

We're not offering a choice - it would cost us 40% more if we offered 2 choices, so they are just getting what they're given! We are choosing dishes that are quite 'safe' and the majority of people should like - obviously any dietary requirements will be catered for, but fussiness won't be!!!
I think it would just invite people to be fussy and would cause you a headache.. xx

we sent our invitations out with directions and an rsvp - the rsvp had a space at the bottom so the person could write their name and circle the choice of main they want. that way when the rsvp was returned we also got the choice of main. i also had written a number on the back of it ( i also had written the corresponding number on a list at home ) just in case they hadn't put their names on it...

MrsP: I totally understand offering a choice if it costs a lot extra, but not all venues charge extra; ours hasn't, it's exactly the same price.
Personally I didn't find it invited fussiness or was a headache; yes, once the RSVPs were all in I did collate them, by table, on a spreadsheet, but that probably took me about 30 minutes. I'm glad we were able to give a choice, and our guests were really pleased too as it meant everyone could pick things they know they'll enjoy :-)

Yes you can put a card in asking for choice from two options ..... But why are YOU paying for the postage ? I'm sure they afford a stamp ... I would put a note in saying that if options are received by you then you will choice what they eat !!!!!
Definitely agree with lala on postage, ppl either txt us with requirements or paid their own postage x
