I love the tatty teddies guest book but before I buy it I was wondering if there was a more unique way of gathering well wishes from guests. I've heard lots over the years but can't remember any! I've only ever actually seen a book at weddings I've been to. Any ideas for something a little less usual? x

Wishing tree/well is what we are doing along side our guest book. Also we are asking all the kids to draw a picture for us so we can put that in a kiddy guest book to remind us of the day.

or get a large mount with a enough room for a wedding photo when done and room around the edge for people to leave messages then frame it?
Enjoying being a wifey!!

We are thinking of making up message cards the same size and style as our STD's and get them to post them in our post box then after the wedding buying a small photo album to match the main one and placing them in that!
I'm making a scrapbook out of our wishing cards along side some other bits and bobs from the wedding. I love tactile things that you can touch and play with.

i was thinking of making a large heart out of wood or strong cardboard, paint it red then let people write there messages on paper and pin them to the heart. that way can put them in a photo album or something.

I have a guestbook which was bought by my MIL2b, but we also have a signing frame that we are going to be put a pic in of me and h2b pre wedding and then once we have our wedding photos we will stick one of those in with all the messages around it. You could also have guests take a polaroid pic of themselves to put in your guestbook with any message underneath but that is probably expensive to do. x

I don't know if there is any offers out there, but I got ours half price from Confetti. It was £50 and got it for £25, bargain. Or you could be creative and do one yourself, but maybe cutting it a bit fine with time now, exciting! :) x

Hi
Im having a Photo frame with a wide border so our guests can write their wishes
I did wonder about a guest book, but decided not to as what do you normally do to a guest book?
A Picture usually stays up and where we plan to put it, Not only Kim and I will see it, but our guests will too xx

Yeah fairly normal, I had no choice in it, she just bought it and luckily it was nothing weird, lol. Cream textured outside with a small red rose on it. Colour doesn't fit into the theme but it is such a small detail that I am not bothered. Not worth upsetting her for the sake of a bit of red. Originally we were just going to have the signing frame with no plans for a guestbook, so hopefully the guests will sign both! x

I like one idea I have seen but not sure on that or the signature frame. I saw a normal guest book or album and on the pages just stick lots of coloured and different size envelopes in on the back of them. Then get your guest to write a message on card and pop it in the open envelope. Sounds wierd but actually looks quite nice.
CommentAuthorsbride
i had a guest book and hardly anyone wrote in it. Wish I would of done something different really.

That's what I'm thinking about sbride. But then would it be even worse if no one wrote on our picture cos then when we put it up it would look bare!

Im doing a 'penny for your thoughts' idea. I will be having small envelops and cards that people can fill in and post in our box. in each envelop there will also be a nice shiney penny for their thoughts.

What you could do to ensure people write in your Guest book / Frame or what you decide, Is get one person maybe a bridesmaid or as I am, The toast Master, who will then go around and ask everyone to sign it during the wedding breakfast, That way we ensure that as many people have an opportunity to see it and sign it xx

Our theme is New York as that's where we got engaged so will be asking the flower girls to give guests cut out black & white postcards of famous skyscrapers in NYC. Guests can then write us a note and peg it to some rope on the wall. When they're all up it should hopefully look like the NYC skyline. We'll make a book to keep them in. xx

I think the photo frame idea is nice and at least you can put it up somewhere at home. Whatever you decide to do, it is best that someone from the wedding party actually takes it around to all the tables and gets your guests to sign or write messages, that's what we did and we got messages from everyone. Really nice keepsake of the day.

We had a meeting with our photgrapher yesterday and he creates photo guestbooks from pre-wedding shoot images, so basically there is a blank page then next to it a picture of you and your hubby. It looked really good but expensive so we thought we could just make one ourselves with old photos we have of us, very good keepsake i think!
CommentAuthorA.Bird2b
my sister is buying us a plate as our wedding present with the details of our day on it that everyone can sign with a special pen, then you bake it in the oven to preserve it for ever. I thought it was really nice, a little different and something I could get out every year on our anniversary and use. I also loved the idea of a "guest cushion", to get each guest to write their good wishes on a square of fabric then they could be sewn together into a cushion.
CommentAuthorTinsel
OK, without going overkill with this idea, but if anyone is thinking of something different, here's what I'm doing;
Each guest will have a mini gel pen and a couple of these;
Heart-shaped Post-its.jpg
We'll ask them to write their message to us on the post-it and then stick it on this;
Signing Frame.jpg
No-one has to write too much, they don't have to wait for the book to come around, no-one has to be in charge of it, any mistakes can have another post-it and any rude messages I can remove lol!
Simples!

Another idea would be to have them take a picture of themselves holding their messages so you could make up a collage of all your guests
CommentAuthorkatie1991
u can hire out a photo booth that people go in and record a message they are really good me and h2b are thinking of having one xx
CommentAuthorspooney24
2 other ideas are:-
1. Every guest to right a good luck wish on their place cards and then have a wee postbox or basket to put them in after the meal,its gives the guests something to do and talk about whilst waiting in between courses (good conversational starter for guests who dont know each other) and also means no place cards are left on the tables to through in bin later. Also it means the place cards have an additional purpose and if you cant read their signature at least you have their name on the place card clearly to see. The postbox or basket could be at the entrance/exit of the wedding breakfast/function room so easy to see and also it can be announced to everyone to do this by the toastmaster/master if ceremony or mentioned in the speeches.
2. Hire or buy a polariod pod which can be used to print off instant pics of guests, each guest or group of guests can take a picture of themselves or the person sitting next to them (this can also be done as part of the evening entertainment inc into a dance or game) and then pass camera around. You would need to ensure either you had a decent camera to pass around all tables/guests or that someone was responsible for doing this. Once all pics taken the pics are printed on the pod printer (just need your camera cable and camera) and then pics are handed out to the guests (can be made into a game by "find the guest to match the pic" for the kids or adults. Once handed out all guests then write a wee note on the reverse or at bottom of pic and these can be collected up or put in a box/basket. After the wedding/honeymoon you can then stick them into a book, album, into a clear picture frame or whatever you like.
1st idea is obviously quicker but second one maybe a bit more personal and a good keepsake.

they are both great ideas Juney! We were thinking of giving out paper for guests to sign, leave a message, draw on, write a poem or whatever with their invites and then collecting them in a book! Hopefully people would give them back? lol

what me and h2b want is a guest book with envelopes inside as mentioned above by DeeC but yet im not sure if i should buy a guest book with envelopes already inside? (which wont match the colour theme) or buy a guest book and stick in my own envelopes which do match the colours. at first i was worried this could make the book buldge however ive had a nosey online and have seen a few tips on how to prevent the buldge so this could be done. hmmmm.........

CommentAuthorAtaraxia
If you can find a guest book in a plain colour that goes with your colour scheme, places like Hobbycraft do little things you can add, such as ribbons, bows and crystals and they do them in hundreds of colours!

yeah, well ive found a guestbook which has already got purple butterflies on and a purple ribbon on the spine which has silver diamonti's on it and me and h2b love this guestbook as it has a personalised front as well. so we thought about maybe having a trial run of this book and stick in some envelopes (book only £8 :D) to see if it would work.

(bit of a freak have to have a min of x amount in my account haha!) then i need to find envelopes in purple :) i will post pictures when ive done a trial run. if it goes ok i may even use it as the actual day book haha! :D

I am going to the the 'leaf a print and sign your name' guest book, but instead of having a tree with leaves made out of thumb prints, I am going to get people to make a bunch of balloons as the design I have for our wedding stationery has a cute silhoutte of a couple floating away with a heart shaped balloon.
CommentAuthorDeeC
ooh i didnt even think about the book bulging or how it would actually look. i just seen them and thought i want one of those!! i think i will have to look into that myself
CommentAuthorjadem
We were recently at a wedding and they had the book and they also had someone go round with a camera and take pictures of each person/couple and it was printed onto a blank postcard and passed back to who the photo was taken of and then you wrote on the back of it with your well wishes, passed it back and they were all put in an album. it was a great idea... although Mark kept hold of ours..... wasn't until we got home i asked him why he didnt hand it back... LOL! x
CommentAuthorSteffie
Tinsel your idea is fab as I want to do the photo board and write messages around the picture but i just dont want any rude messages on it! so post it notes are a fab idea and then we can select the nicest messages!
I also love jadem's idea of having a picture of each person/couple/family turned into a postcard for them to write their message on!
