I booked my reception and night time at the stadium of light, sunderland well over a year ago now. I have kept in touch with them and had letters in the post. In january i got a letter and a event sheet with all the detail conffimation and prices for the wedding. Only on saturday i got a letter and new wedding broucher to state that as i have not yet paid the outstaning balance yet and the new broucher is now out that i now have to pay the new prices. These prices have gone up by £5 per head day time and £3 per head night time.

I think that's wrong... Get on to them, you normally secure the price when u book... Never heard it like that before? You should look thru your booking info, the small print see what it says x

Have a look at all the paper work you have already got. Hopefully it will say somewhere that prices wont change, but if it doesn't then unfortunately there isnt a lot you can do about it :( xxx

Well don't let them talk u into it, argue it out, I would! That's a lot of money per person even for a small wedding and u budget for the price they give you that's why u ask for a 'confirmation ' in writing... Which you've got, I'm sure they're not allowed to do that!x

i have 87 going to the day and over 180 to the night so it works out at over £800 more. I am not a happy bunny. planning ya wedding should be a happy time now i am stressed. i have 8 weeks till it has to be paid to find the extra money. You just dont have the extra money when planning a wedding.

I find it outrageous they've attempted this when it's 3months to ur big day, they should honour the prices they gave u initially... If u ring up, ask to speak to a senior manager and send an email of complaint... I find the more u get yourself known the more you'll get what u want to shut u up lol x

that is awful, i don't think they can do that and they should really honour the price especially when your wedding is so close.
why not give cab a call anyway and put your mind at rest. If they can't help you i am sure they will direct to the right people who can help you.
Then once you have done that phone the venue back up and have it out with them.

    Do you have wedding insurance?

i booked my wedding in january for december 2014, i asked about the prices and she said if we booked and paid the deposit they would honour the 2012 prices so we booked as soon as we could. i would read through your contract and visit CAB for advice like the other ladies have said, hopefully u will only have to pay the original prices, good luck xx

What a pain, I'd be tempted to speak with them in person (with copies of all letters & info) rather than dealing with them via email. It's easier to say no over email v you being their in person.

    That's really unfair.
I'm sure when you book and get confirmation that's the price you pay no matter when the prices change.

    Check your contract with them.

They should honour the price it was when you booked with them, that is unfair.

Have they given you a sheet with terms and conditions on it might say something in there.

Have you checked what it says in your contract. They shouldn't be able to increase the prices like that. Even if it does not state in your contract, I would argue that it was an implied term that these were the fees that you were paying and on this basis you signed the contract. I would definitely refuse to pay the extra!

Definitely go and speak to the CAB thats why you ask for confirmation in writing and usually why you pay a deposit... they say its to 'secure' your booking... so in my eyes surely that means secures the information and prices you have discussed. they should know weddings are stressful both emotionally and financially and should not be doing this to you 3 months beforehand.
Yes you havent paid final balance, but noone does till 4weeks before when you CONFIRM your final numbers which are set to the original pph back when you first booked.
definitely go and speak and seek advice hun. xx

No i don't have wedding insurance. I did think about getting it but never got round to it. is it worth getting some now at this short notice for any other things that could go wrong. I got a email back today from the lady that i have been dealing with at the venue. She told me she will see what se can do and talk to her manager and not for me to worry but ir is easy said then done. If she comes back to say i have to pay the new price i am defo going to the CAB and the local press if i have to. After all it is a big football club and they will not want any bad press. I have read the small print and i cant see anything to say they can just charge me extra just like that.

    xxx

Our venue originally said that prices would be held to such a such a date, we had to negotiate for this years prices. However, they did very clearly state it, and as your venue have not done so, they should honor the original quote xx

the fact you have already paid something off hun should of secured it at the price given at the time basically thats what deposits are for to secure it, I dont think they can do what they are stating just because you still owe money your paying the balance off that was agreed if they refuse to drop it to the original price I would seek legal action maybe speak to a solicitor x

They cant make you pay more if youve already agreed a price. Hope you get the answers you need from the woman you are dealing with. If you don't I'd seek legal action.

If you have agreed a precise, have it in writing and have put a deposit down then they cannot change the price. If she comes back with bad news say to her. No I have looked into it and by law we have a contract and you can not break that contract, if you do so then I will be contacting my solicitor as well as the press. Blag it hun, they don't no what u do or don't no and there just pushing to see what they can get. Stand ur ground at end of day u both tied into a contract and the contract states that price. They have to stick to it x

unfortunately if they have price increases they are entitled to pass them on to you .....unless you have it in writing that your price is fixed against increases

the one thing you could do is ask that if you can pay the balance by a certain date they will keep your original price.

they are not doing anything illegal and at the end of the day it is entirely up to them ....

I was finding it hard to grt out of work to go down to see them so i sent another email saying how upset i was with them as there was nothing in the small print of my contract to say they can put the prices up and that i was worried as too where i was going to fing the extra money to pay for it so close to my wedding and how dissapointed i was with the football club and the event managment team have made what should be a very happy time for us planning our wedding they are spoilt for us. The next morning i got a email back from the lady i been dealing with to so dont worry i will talk to my manager. By the end of the day she got back to me to say they will honor the price i was first given. So i am now happy again.
