Are any of you girls doing grooms cakes. My OH keeps going on about a wedding topper he wanted. I put my foot down and bought the one i wanted! lol. Its something no one else would get, not that it matters i just didnt want it on the cake.

Anyway I thought instead of getting a grooms cake for him. Dont want him to feel left out (tho we have make all choices together)

Just thought it would be a nice surprise on the day.

have to say my OH has been quite involved, not sure i like it tho, think he forgets it my wedding :P yeah its like a second cake. I mean weddings tend to be all about the bride and i just wanted to make sure he wasnt forgotten if that makes sence. Also since he went on and on about this cake topper which i just wasnt having when the cake is sooo pretty, didnt want a gamer thing on the top of it, lol.

I was thinking of having this done too , we can not decide on the flavours for the cakes and all that I suggest he hates and all he suggests I hate lol , I have done the cake topper too and he has not got a clue as done it as a surprise even though I no he will love it but I was thinking of doing a separate cake for him with his flavour so I can have want I want for the cake lol it's a bit selfish but I no that the guests will not like the flavour he has chosen xx

Its a nice idea for those whose OH don't tend to be involved, but for me the wedding is about both of us and my H2b loves getting involved. I think getting a seperate cake would actually do the opposite than get him involved. Makes it more obvious it's might be seen as a brides day only.

It's his wedding as well, it's not all about the bride unless the bride makes it all about her. A grooms cake is a good way of letting him have his way but it also feels a bit like segregating him from "the real wedding"

I've basically just repeated what Laura just said lol

and I'm about to continue repeating what she said by going on to say that I also think that the wedding is about two people and it should reflect both your personalities, You're marrying him for who he is and pushing who he is out of your wedding is a bit selfish.

Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh :S

I should have just said "I agree with Laura Jane W" lol.

I know a lot Of grooms don't like to get involved with planning because they don't really have a clue but mines would be gutted if he wasn't involved. He seems to be more excited than me sometimes!
I just dont see a point in a seperate cake, I've never heard of this before, and after all you cut the cake together!

He has been very involed with everything. Its his colour choice and his venue choice (cause im not from up here) hes left me to the dresses and invites and things, tho he saw them before i made them.

The cake we are having is quite plain, 3 tier ivory with ribbon round it and my topper with a couple of the butterflies going up the side. We are having a couple of different flavours in the tiers cause he likes chocolate and im not that keen.

I had just thought it would of been nice, have seen it done in a few weeding programs and the groom always looks over the moon with the surprise, but dont think ill bother now as i dont want him to feel alianated either. ty girls and dont worry legobride it wasnt harsh. rofl
