mum just reminded me that since i was younger i always wanted to get married there, my mum is half scottish and i was close to my grandad (the scottish side of her family), so wanted to keep the connection. my grandad passed when i was 5 so this is how i want to remember him, as i know he'll be with me on my special day.

anyone else got married or getting married there that could share some advice on venues etc. looking for something small and intimate and a big party when we come back

My friend got married there and loved it. She said that the service was great and the pics look amazing. If you have any questions then I can ask her for you.

I've got my heart set in a gretna wedding. Im originally from aberdeen, but live in east yorkshire. Looks really good, just don't know where to have the ceremony. A lot more to choose from than I realised!

we originally looked at gretna green as an option due to an "in" joke between me and my great uncle who lives in Renfrew but David suggested the costs would start adding up with travel especially for those family that live near Bath. they did have quite a few packages on their site

Ive booked a package with the wedding bureau. You can just book the venue with them then choose a few extras such as car etc. or you can have a complete package.

Ive gone for a complete package because it is less hassle and works out cheaper.

There are quite a few venues and hotels to choose from, im getting married at the mill forge then having a meal and staying at the dryfesdale hotel for 2 nights. We have 14 guests and they are also staying in the same hotel.

Feel free to ask me anything if you want to

We're getting married at Gretna as well. We've booked through the Gretna Wedding Bureau - but not everything as we decided we wanted a different car [ got a camper van :-) ] and we're organising our own cake and flowers. We're having our wedding at the Gretna Hall Linton Suite (as there's going to be around 20 of us and the Linton Suite holds 20), and our reception is at the Solway Lodge hotel.

The venues on offer with the bureau vary in size - but you can have small (capacity 15) to large (even churches or castles). They've been very helpful - would definitely recommend them.

We have decided to have our wedding in gretna green at mill forge, we are having our wedding there as well as the reception and a few of our guests are staying there too. There arent many rooms so we are going to provide the guests with a hotel locally to stay and have our closest family stay at the mill forge. We are inviting over 100 people, weather or not they come is a different matter, as our family are from north london and wolverhampton :)

so, here it goes. we are now thinking about gretna green instead of a registry office. i have looked on the website and they offer packages just for the bride and groom and provide the witnessess which i think is perfect for me.(i suffer bad from anxiety and i think having my family around me is too much, i much prefer a private ceromany just me and my oh). anyway has anyone done this before. how did u get on. the package i have found is the romance package at the mill forge which is £445 obviously price dependant to 2017 it includes ceromany venue, 2 nights in the bridal suite intimate 4 course meal for bride and groom, bucks fizz on arrival, sparkling wine to celebrate, witnesses if required (something we need) and a wedding planner assistance.. now how did this work for you guys like on the day of the wedding not letting the groom see the dress & obviously help getting into the dress. transport is it something thats needed tp get to the ceromany, is the 2 nights stay near?. and obviously we want photography how did you choose your photographer.. and most importantly what did you do after in terms of the meal and everything else ? arghh im pulling my hair out

Sorry for the long post im trying to find something thats perfect for us and gretna green sounds just that, but not making any decisions without hearing other peoples opinions and storys oof how theirs went. p.s i have never been to a wedding only seen it on the tv so i have no idea thankyou xxx
