so, here it goes. we are now thinking about gretna green instead of a registry office. i have looked on the website and they offer packages just for the bride and groom and provide the witnessess which i think is perfect for me.(i suffer bad from anxiety and i think having my family around me is too much, i much prefer a private ceromany just me and my oh). anyway has anyone done this before. how did u get on. the package i have found is the romance package at the mill forge which is £445 obviously price dependant to 2017 it includes ceromany venue, 2 nights in the bridal suite intimate 4 course meal for bride and groom, bucks fizz on arrival, sparkling wine to celebrate, witnesses if required (something we need) and a wedding planner assistance.. now how did this work for you guys like on the day of the wedding not letting the groom see the dress & obviously help getting into the dress. transport is it something thats needed tp get to the ceromany, is the 2 nights stay near?. and obviously we want photography how did you choose your photographer.. and most importantly what did you do after in terms of the meal and everything else ? arghh im pulling my hair out

Sorry for the long post im trying to find something thats perfect for us and gretna green sounds just that, but not making any decisions without hearing other peoples opinions and storys oof how theirs went. p.s i have never been to a wedding only seen it on the tv so i have no idea thankyou xxx

Didn't want to read and run, I haven't been to a wedding there but I have heard its meant to be lovely at Gretna, not sure how the whole getting ready thing would work when you would be on your own, would you really want your close family to miss your wedding? They can be your witnesses and help you get ready too, there doesn't have to be many of them but seems a shame to one min plan a wedding for 10 then have nobody, I would be worried id regret cutting everyone out xx

im abit unsure about the whole registry office thing as i dont talk to my mother. so i dont want her turning up and i feel sorry for my otherhalf he doesnt have much family. we are unsure his mother would even come. i would rather have something where its a private thing between me and him. my family cant help but stick their 2 pennies worth in and i feel that id feel more comfortable just me and my oh and peace and quite, and we have both agreed we would enjoy the day more knowing their is going to be no bitching fights between the relatives.

we had actually booked to get married last year at the registry office but because i was ill i had to cancel it. my family was constantly trying to make desicions on my behalf and what ever we wanted to do they made it feel like it was stupid and wrong. it has totally knocked my confidence (i suffer with anxiety) and i dont want a day for them to just moan and say i need to do this and that down my lug hole every 2 minutes. this way we can enjoy are wedding without the stress and be able to enjoy quility time together. xx

I am sure an old member on here (within the last few years) got married there but off the top of my head I cannot think who.

It sounds perfect for what you want though I must say, defo something to look more into once you've got more feedback on it, that though I cannot help you with, sorry.
