    Hey Ladies,
For our wedding colours I am wanting dark bright green and silver, along with cream for flowers etc. I think it might be a little bland and was thinking of adding another colour, maybe a pale pink or a lavendar-y purple. What do you all think?

I like the hot pink thats in season at the moment have you thought of that??

But i think a dark green, silver and pink theme would look really pretty

Yea, I am not a huge fan of hot pink, and I think a lot of people use it, I wanted something a bit different. Also I have been told pink would go better with lime than dark green, and I hate lime!!!

see i never like green and pink together as i think they clash but a very pale baby pink with silver and dark green could work as it wouldn't be too deep a shade of pink so would compliment the others in the theme quite nicely. Just subtle hints of it here and there could work very well. Best of luck choosing and maybe putting a few samples and swatches next to each other will help you decide xxx

If you weren't using silver I'd say have brown as dark green brown and cream look great together but I don't think silver would work.

What about green purple blue with cream and silver?

But I think green and pink look gorgeous, a soft baby pink not bright pink.

Purple would go nice with dark green and silver, actually sounds like a traditional Scottish mix to be honest. And a pale pink would also look good, I am not a fan of hot pink either, pale pink is much more romantic looking. x

I am getting married in Scotland but apart from the ceilidh/disco it's as far from Scottish as possible, hate all the haggis, stovies and thistles!

Lol, I love haggis and stovies with oatcakes, mmmmm, but then I am Scottish so I guess I was either going to love it or hate it growing up, lol. My MIL2b suggested having thistles in my bouquet but that I said no to as we are getting married in England and there is nothing Scottish in our wedding apart from me, lol. x

I have been here most my life but very much stuck to what my mum likes when growing up although I do love Irn Bru and she hates it. I was thinking about having Echinops in my bouquet which are thistle of a type but they aren't in season (we have an Echinops plant at home and it isn't even beginning to have the flowers on it yet and we are getting married in March).
See, my fiance is Welsh and his dad keeps saying about wearing a kilt and getting a piper but no, it's just not us.

You have to go with what makes you and h2b happy not your family, that is when the problems start, when you let parents take over, lol. I love Irn Bru, but don't buy it very often down here as it isn't as noticeable in the shops here, back home there is loads of it! :)

Oh I know. :( My mum is driving me bananas. She wanted copper engraved invites and I don't. She is insisting on buying my step dad a black suit with tails when everyone else will be in grey, she doesn't like the idea of pale pink. I just don't know what to do. I have got my own way on some things (she said I was doing stuff too fast but I wanted to get started so have booked church and reception venue and she wanted a buffet for the main meal which I no-noed right away) I am sure there are other things too. I am sick of it already.
    Rant over.

Are your parents paying for your wedding or a lot of it? They seem to think that gives them the right to organise and choose everything and you end up feeling guilty and letting them because you don't want to seem ungrateful, vicious cycle. We are paying for it all ourselves except the church so we have done things our way regardless of opinions. x

They are meant to be paying for the reception. Tom's parents are paying for the church and the entertainment hopefully and we will be getting most of the rest. It's like my sister who doesn't want to be a bridesmaid wants to buy the cake, and when I got to her with the one I want she says it's boring and I feel like I have to choose something else.

It is a difficult situation to be in, but you have to be firm in saying thanks for all the monetary help but you want the day your way. How would your parents have liked to be made to do what their parents wanted on their day, or maybe they did! Hope it all works out ok though, you have a while yet and after a while of being bossed about you will end up telling them what you really want and you will get your perfect day! :) x
