Hello beautiful brides and brides to be! I am in a bit of a conundrum. I have booked a wedding package to get merried in crete next year and my package doesnt include preparation of documents. They have quoted me £500 pounds to do this, however, they said it can be done by us. Had anyone done this before and is it difficult, or is it worth forking out the 500? Im just thinking that id it is a bit of work but not impossible, its 500 quid extra to spend on other bits :)
Thank you all so very much super love to you all xxx

Just did a quick g00gl3 on 'documents for wedding in Greece' and there are some informative pages - Angl0inf0 is good. The required documents seem quite extensive, including your birth certificates and a certificate of no impediment, which both have to be officially translated into Greek! You also need to have notices posted in a local Greek paper or church 8 days before the ceremony - also in Greek.
Seems to be rather complicated to be honest, so unless you are in Crete frequently and have a basic knowledge of Greek, I would say it is well worth the money to pay to have it all arranged for you. Missing one part or not getting a correct stamp could so easily mean the ceremony doesn't take place at all. It's not worth the risk in my opinion.
However I am very jealous of your Cretian wedding - such a lovely island. A wedding there sounds lovely.

Thank you so so much Future MrsW, much appreciated! R=That does seem very complicated alright, it is a bit strange but I understand why they may need to do this.... I do, however, have a load of greek friends that can help with a few bits... Hmm, will have to see, but thank you ever so much, you are a star! xxx

No problem :) Would probably be much easier to sort with your Greek friends helping. Good luck! Keep us updated with the rest of the planning :P
