I was taken by car on Friday evening over the moors in Yorkshire, given a few drinks and told to enjoy my favourite cd (the new Imelda May album!).
Got to a BEAUTIFUL cottage just outside Hebden Bridge where all my bridesmaids (inc. my twin sister who lives in London) and my auntie and a few other friends were waiting with wine, food, music, banners etc. it was SOO much fun and the cottage was the most gorgeous place, there was a decking area next to a stream, a wonderful fountain and lawn.
The Saturday morning we got up and had a massive cooked breakfast then went into Hebden Bridge to the Burlesque Festival! Went to the Burlesque market/Bazaar and I bought loads of gorgeous stuff (lots for some of my routines...I'm a Burlesque Dancer!), there were performers, singers and a tattoo artist...where I got a tattoo alsong side my twin sister, a perfect souvenir for my hen do haha! There were laods of people there that I know from the Burlesque world so it was great, dead fun. Then we went for a massive pub tea and back home to get ready for the Gala Show that evening....but we LOCKED OURSELVES OUT OF THE HOUSE haha!
We sorted it...eventually, minutes before trying to shove my twin sis up the wall to climb through a skylight haha!
Got ready and headed out to the show....it was AMAZING! The performers were wonderful, as expected, a couple of my friends were there on stage, it was brilliant celebrating my hen do and cheering on some dear friends. After the show they put on music and kept the bar open and we danced until the small hours, it was amazing. the best thing about being at a Burlesque Show is the kind of music I like (rockabilly etc) was played and everyone was up dancing :)
Got home and sat up in the cottage until 3am eating a drunkenly thrown together buffet and more wine!
Sunday we went back into Hebden Bridge to the festival, did some shopping and went into a little tea shop that stayed open just for us because it was my hen do :) we drank pink lemonade and ate HUGE sliced of homemade cake!
Got back to the cottage Sunday evening, sat out on the decking and drank wine and had a picnic next to the stream until it got cold, then went inside and watched Sex in the City 2, which was just a lovely little detail from my friends as my family live in Abu Dhabi :)
Got up Monday morning to a lovely breakfast then came home.
It was just magical, my bridesmaids and friends worked so hard to create the perfect weekend away, I did not want to leave! Every detail was thoughtful and lovely, I brought home some lovely souvenirs and incredible memories.
I am such a lucky girl!
